emby on sheild suddenly started trial

today on my nvidia sheild it suddenly said im on trial for the premiere service, i didnt sign up for that nor do i want it

Hi.  I assume you are talking about the app and not the server.  The app requires either Premiere or an unlock purchase for playback but allows you to try it out for two weeks.  That is the trial it is referring to.

i thought that too at first but even after trying to use google wallet to unlock the app it  doesnt work, the only option that seems to work is emby premiere. is there another way to pay for the app alone

 

i dont mind paying for the app ive paid for 4 other versions before,  Windows Android windows store version and IOS, so thats expected its the apparent forcing me to sign up for premiere that i find disturbing

 

none of the features of premiere are worth the added expense to me

 

and whats really crazy google play tells me it is NOT COMPATABLE with the nvidia sheild, so how can you pay for an app that isnt compatable with the app your telling me to pay for it with?

 

seems to me you guys are trying to force people buy premiere. and i will not do that

 

because while emby is good emby premiere isnt worth the cost

 

either come up with a less devious solution or youll be hearing from the state attorney general

 

you and i both know youve done this before

Hi.  Nothing devious is happening here.  I think our multi-year track record should bear that out.

 

Can you please tell us exactly what happened when you tried to unlock the app?  Were any messages shown on the screen?

 

I just tested the app unlock purchase in the app and it worked for me.  You do have to be properly signed in to your Google account on the device and have purchases enabled though.

it gives a button for google wallet i click it and it asks me if i want to sign up for emby premiere or to just unlock the app

 

i then click just unlock the app

 

it then instructs me to go to google pay and add  a paymet option at G.co/managewallet

 

i added two credit cards to google pay a visa and master card

 

and i click its done and nothing happens

 

i am signed in on my nvidia sheild under my google account

 

i finally called google and  they told me emby for android tv is not compatible with google pay

 

i couldnt beileve that after trying this for days on end

 

i asked the agent what I needed to do and he said contact emby

 

i asked for a supervisor very irate

 

and i said theres got to be a way to pay for this

 

he put e on hold for 25 minutes and when he came back he asked me to confirm my credit card and he unlocked the App

 

he told me again that emby for android tv on the nvidia sheild is not compatible with google paym

 

so eve though im finally unlocked i still feel that for my fellow users benefit that you need to look into this.

 

ive had problems like this before multiple times whenever you update apps

 

like ive said  Ive used the app in now 5 different operating systems and it only seems to happen when the App gets updated

 

if you check my post history youll see this is true

 

I honestly think these types of issues need to be tested before a newly updated app is released

 

and not left to frustrate end users

 

this passing the buck saying we cant help you call the other guy is bad for everyone

 

and EBR the truth is you have the ability to add a premiere key to the server itself

 

why dont you have an App key for the rest of s so we too dont have to got through this aggravation every time you update

 

it seems to me its deliberate just to urge people to get a premiere license

 

and if so thats despicable

We're sorry you had that trouble but I think you got bad information from your Google support rep.  We've had several successful purchases of that unlock in that app in just the past day.  We are definitely compatible with their store.

 

BTW - once you clicked the button "Just Unlock App" this entire process was out of our hands.  You were dealing exclusively with the Google Store process at that point.

 

Do you have one of the order IDs for the order(s)  you attempted?  You can PM it to me if you wish.
