syadnom 24
Though there is a thread with some comments on this, it's 60 pages long and not specifically about shield+OTA I setup Emby Server on a Shield, verified that transcoding is 'Yes' and the profile is auto. The dashboard shows MPEG2 MediaCodec > H.264 (AVC) MediaCodec video constantly stutters. Completely unwatchable. If I disable hardware transcoding, the video plays smooth but of coarse uses up the entire CPU on one or two 480p transcodes. Now, If I selectively disable/enable the transcoder software MPEG2 > MediaCodec H.264 - still stutters but maybe 25% as bad MediaCodec MPEG2 > Software H.264 - full stuttering MediaCodec MPEG2 > MediaCodec H.264 - full stuttering software > software - plays fine Emby Server > Emby Player on Shield direct plays MPEG2 and plays fine. Basically, the Shield is completely useless for this purpose... and I'm only using 480p TV streams. I cant do a full 1080p MPEG2>H.264 in software without stuttering.
Luke 37025
Have you tried enabling the direct stream live tv option in the app?
syadnom 24
Have you tried enabling the direct stream live tv option in the app? I need it to transcode specifically. I can direct stream on devices (not browsers, no MPEG2) but I MUST transcode for my needs.
Luke 37025
Can you provide an ffmpeg log from a stuttering example? Thanks.
