Sorting movies by Country?

Hi there

I am missing a sort criteria "country" in the movie database.

There are several selection filelds, but none being the country.

As this information is in the imdb database, it would be great to have Emby sort the movies according per country selected.

If this feature does not yet exist (checked Android and Windows player), I would suggest to geht that selectable field as a sort criteria in a later release.

If this feature is well hidden, kindly enlighten me... :-)

Cheers,

Lati

But Emby does not use IMDB for any information, as it is not free.  All information comes from OMDB, TMDB and TVDB.

If I have a look at the information (.nfo) files of my movie collection, the "country" is available. So this field could be used as sorting criteria.

The requirement is legitime imho.

Just looking to easily create collections of my european movies by country, no easy way. +1 for County sorting or automatic tagging maybe.

How would you do that?  We don't have a country field in the metadata with this information.

"Country" is held in the library.db in the "ProductionLocations" field so it is "available" to be used

the data will be very dependant on how good the source data is though

TMM = Tiny Media Manager??

Yea, info is available but I don't think is actually tracked right now.  At least in the metadata editor this info isn't available.

This has me curious.  Anyone interested in this type of thing would you mind checking sources and report back what you see for something like "Game of Thrones".

How about these movies:

Gladiator (2000)
Skyfall (2012) ...
The Dark Knight Rises (2012) ...
Lawrence of Arabia (1962) ...
Baraka (1992) ...
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

These were all shot in multiple countries and pretty big name movies.

Just wondering what type of "country" info is available for them.

Country i think is where the film was produced not where it shot

so vast majority will be "USA"

"foreign language" films for me, have Country as France, Denmark etc

TV Series do not have any Country info in the nfo's or the database

Checking TVDB it does not provide Country in the metadata for a Series - probably why its not stored in the Emby db

The Movie db does for a series for the one i checked

+1 for this feature, hopefully will be added, it's great when you want to watch for example a Korean movie you just filter that country

Do it please guys

Still can't be that straight forward when there are multiple countries.

Atomic Blonde

  <country>Sweden</country>
  <country>Germany</country>
  <country>Hungary</country>
  <country>United States of America</country>

Gladiator (2000)

So it could be a matter of whether first or all are written in your metadata as I know my xml metadata only contains first.  But Emby writes all.

For a Filter I can see this but Sort By I can't as items can have multiple countries.

It's possible for the future. Thanks.

Hello,

I was wondering if this was something you think you will implement someday, could be convenient, I wanted to show some french movies to my girlfriends and realised i can't sort by country 😛

I can see the field country, but is it even filled? I checked on a few movies and it doesn't appear to be (can't even search by country also)

Thank you

Well question, what does country mean to you? Because that's not a country field (see the help text).

That's a setting to determine which country's parental ratings to use.

It would be nice to have a country option. For example... When i want to watch only Korean movies.
I can't search only that. But if i could look for it using primary language or production country... It would be perfect.
