Emby is my favor I mean the best family movie collector and player for me ,so I am using it since 2 years ago.

But one of the updates after I'm encounting a weird problem:

When Ive watching 21:9 movie it was stretching in fullscreen... Everything seems getting a bit tall (mean X size abit small and  Y size abit higher) It situation only show up in 21:9 movies ...but others normally.

I don't know how to reset it I'm tried to set my TV monitor and some output parmaters in PS4 but nothing helps. I think it was worked perfect months ago and I have no touched anything for settings.

so I'm here to getting some helps !!!

These things I can confirmed in following list:

1) My emby server fine

2) Andorid TV app / Android app / PC chrome  All working fine without any problem.

Plz ,some one or devs help me!!! thanks!

Hi, and 16:9 titles are ok?

How are you playing on the PS4?

1) Yes .all 16:9 movies + subtitles works fine,but only 21:9.

2) Using PS4 Pro with latest PS4 firmware.

3) My operation: goto WWW browser, and then connect my private Emby Server as usually ,but 21:9 movies stretching ..I'm seeing.the actors much taller than original...I'm tried with fullscreen or press [] to native window,,it's same.

4) my cell phone(Emby android) and TV(Emby TV) and PC(Web) all movies works fine.

I'm confused.

I'm pretty sure it was a issue from the ps4 browser compatibility, so you can check it

Thanks xD..

Ok then sorry I'm not sure what to say.

http://tv.emby.media

Is what we're actively testing on Ps4. Thanks.

I knew http://tv.emby.media is your portal for movie watching. It should be a http forwarder and it make a connection between media server and user... but I use emby without this domain. I'm meaning I can access emby by my domain and it was work fine ..like https://mydomain.com/ both pc and android app, some revisions after it's works weird on my ps4 browser with 21:9 movie screen scaling but Android & PC still worked perfectly.

so ,are you team will no longer support access emby within private domain?

abit older version ,it's 3.5 ...lol...is that thing relating?

My son has the same problem, what cebernic wrote on 14 November 2019. But at us the Emby Server's version is the latest 4.3.1.0. The PS4 is connected to a 1920x1080 resolution TV set.

For accessing the Emby Server he uses the web browser of PS4 (with the latest firmware), with address for local LAN http://(local LAN IP address of Emby Server):8096 (not through tv.emby.media, but directly), and for remote access through https://tv.emby.media with address https://(mydomain) with port 8920.

The vertical stretching issue is the same in both cases. The problem arises with video resolutions 1920x816, 1920x804, 1920x802 or in general 1920x(8 hundred and something). The playback of these videos is absolutely perfect on other than PS4 machines, e.g. Android Emby app or Windows Chrome works well.

I'm sure, that the 1920x800 type videos are filling automatically the 1920x1080 resolution TV set display, not retaining the original aspect ratio.

Yea this looks like a defect in the PS4 browser and we'll have to come up with some kind of workaround for it.

Hi. Same problem here. Movie is watched on PS4 via Direct Streaming. Emby version 4.3.1.0

Playback info:

Direct streaming

The media is compatible with the device regarding resolution and media type (H.264, AC3, etc.), but is in an incompatible file container (.mkv, .avi, .wmv, etc.). The video will be re-packaged on the fly before streaming it to the device.

Direct Streaming a file uses very little processing power without any loss in video quality.

Here's the log entry, if that helps:

2020-01-28 19:52:09.751 Info App: ProcessRun 'StreamTranscode 6877ea' Execute: /bin/ffmpeg -loglevel +timing -f matroska -i file:"movie.mkv" -threads 0 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -sn -c:v:0 copy -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -copyts -vsync -1 -codec:a:0 aac -metadata:s:a:0 language=ger -disposition:a:0 default -ac:a:0 6 -ab:a:0 384000 -f segment -max_delay 5000000 -avoid_negative_ts disabled -map_metadata -1 -map_chapters -1 -start_at_zero -segment_time 6 -individual_header_trailer 0 -segment_format mpegts -segment_write_temp 1 -segment_list_type m3u8 -segment_start_number 0 -segment_list "/tmp/transcoding-temp/12571539a926d04a5283c0cf17d4b03c.m3u8" -y "/tmp/transcoding-temp/12571539a926d04a5283c0cf17d4b03c%d.ts"
