Hello, I am trying to move my pc from a huge atx case, to a small itx or microatx case, they usually dont have space for 3.5" drives, I have my media server storage for emby in a 2tb 7200rpm drive, I was thinking of moving to a wd blue 5400rpm drive , but no idea how would this affect me ? I usually have 2 or 3 devices streaming anytime in my network, and I have emby installed on my ssd with windows (c drive). My other specs is a 3600x with 32gb of ram just in case its needed.

I was considering the firecuda 2tb sshd drive but no idea if that would actually make a difference for emby an 1080p to 4k movies on emby.  Someone with a bit more knowledge could help me here a bit? the current drive is a barracuda 2tb ST2000DM006.

Probably not. The only thing might possibly notice is a little start up latency. I believe ebr uses 5400s. Just don't use desktop drives. Use NAS or Enterprise drives.

No. I've used these for a quite a while now and don't notice any lag. Some of my drives or original 2TB from circa 2013.

With video media playback or digital recoding unless your writing raw data which does req lot of speed in order to keep up like AVI capture, Here an example the Dish Hopper 3 DVR and it one 2TB driver and can handle up 16 recording at once.

All I have ever used is reg consumer cheap drive

I record to SSD and also use a small dedicated SSD for Emby Transcoding. Other than that, everything else is 5400 RPM drives.
