More than one "Live TV" box on Home Screen

Not sure how exactly to explain this.

I use a third party web app, where i import my M3U link and then go into the app and sort/organise my links into UK/Sports/Movies/Kids
etc. In perfect Player on an Android box these would all show up under separate headings.

I've imported my M3U url into Emby, but i now have a channel list with over 250 channels. That's a lot to scroll through.

Would it be possible to create Live TV UK - Live TV Sports - Live Movies -Live Kids

The app I use would allow me to create multiple M3U's so I could create an M3U containing just Sports then one for Kids.

So, basically when I start the Emby app under "My Media" all the different TV line-ups would have their own box"

Is this clear? and can/how could I do it.

Hi, ultimately that's not how we plan to do it, but we will be improving our sorting, filtering and categorization features to better accommodate this. Thanks.

What is the currently suggested way of managing and sorting hundreds of channels?
Would it be to manually go through them and renumber them all so they show up in the order which best suits me, or could I tag them and sort via tags?

Family love some of the channels, but wading through hundreds of channels to get where they won't to be isn't floating their boat.

Hi.  Do you actually need to access all those channels?  Why not wean your m3u list down to just the ones you want?

We will make this easier in the future but limiting the input is a good first step to simplifying it for you.

Okay. Using epg for IPTV I have got the list down to about 100.

Epg for IPTV allows you to create a custom M3U file, basically you input your url. then you can edit out all the channels you don't want. it then creates a custom m3u file and a matching xml file.

This has worked flawlessly using cheap android boxes running perfect player etc (with all my unwanted channels gone)

However I've used the same m3u and xml in emby, but this emby imports all 1000+ channels.

Any idea how I can get around this?

You just put the m3u url in a browser, look at the contents and verify the channels you don't want are no longer present.

I am also interested in this as a possibility, I have several different M3U files, one for live tv, and a couple for on demand sources. Would be nice to be able to add "Live TV" "Movies on Demand" "TV on Demand" to the My Media section or to have the ability to add the "On Demand" as a tab to "Live TV" section.

I've opened the file and it's a bit confusing.

I should have 103 channels. There seem to be a lot of doubles and trebles of channels and I can't understand why.

Could you have a look at the file and tell me where I'm going wrong please.

In the channel lineup in Emby I have lots of blank channels. But my epg and m3u should only have 103 channels

It sounds like you removed the channels from your guide data source, but they still exist in your tuner source (m3u).

I'll get on to epg for iptv to double check that there is no issue thier end.

Is there anyway for me to open that file and check.
Many Thanks for your help in this.

Is work underway to help us organise/sort these m3u files in a more user friendly way?

In the meantime I'll just have to rename the sort order to put all the blank and doubles at the bottom of the pile?

I deleted the m3u and xml, however despite refreshing and even restarting the server, the channel listings remain in the guide. The channels themselves don't play.
Is there a folder/file somewhere that I need to delete to force an update?

I remade the m3u and xml with only two channels in it.
When I go into mapping they are the only ones that show up.

But despite again restarting server, refreshing the guide all the other channels still appear in the epg guide but don't play.

Refreshed the guide a million times with no change. Restarted the server and the PC. But the epg and the now non working channels don't change. (they say no streams were provided for playback.) which would be correct.

Even if I completely remove the m3u and xml file they stay in the TV listings. Refresh and restarting the server again doesn't remove them.

Would it be possible to browse to where the files are stored and delete them manually?
