I'm moving this from the Roku thread.

For some movies there are some playback issues as Roku is buffering a lot.

Even if I manually set to 2-3 Mbps or 60 Mbps FullHD the result is the same.

The wireless is working with ~400Mbps and I'm playing via LAN. With other devices for the same file (Apple TV, nVidia Shield, iOS, Android Mobile) everything works fine on every quality.

I don't think this is a Roku issue as with the latest beta or the stable release I'm encountering the same issue. Tested on two Roku devices from two different locations and the outcome is the same.

There are several videos with this issue on Roku but I've managed to capture this one and reproduce the fault every time.

Emby Server 4.3.0.17

Roku Streaming Stick+ latest OS version

First log with hw transcoding, second one without.

@Luke @ebr please let me know if you need the server log or a video sample to test on your side as well.

Does the same happen if you disable Throttling?

Do you have a ffmpeg log for a lower bitrate?  Both logs provided are for 18Mb H265 being converted to 36Mb H264.

Tried with 4Mb FullHD (with and without throttling), same results.

Just trigger the transcoder via Web just to exclude a ffmpeg issue.

I'm running the same movie, same lan, same server and everything works fine with full speed and with transcoding FHD 4Mbps.

Just seen another interesting thing (check screenshot attached).

Tried again the same scenario with: iOS, Android, Android TV, Apple TV, Web and everything worked fine. The issue is only with Roku.

Several direct play errors there.  Have you tried restarting the Roku?

Yes, also there are two other users with Roku encountering similar issues.
I’ve also tested with another server and I have the same outcome.

And also issues while transcoding ;-) Any hint how we can troubleshoot this one?

Do you want to send in private a video sample to see if you can reproduce?

Yes, a sample video would be great.

Thanks.

How long does it take for the problem to occur?  I just played your sample for about 4 minutes with no issues.  It is transcoding (due to my test environment here) and my machine is able to transcode it fast enough.

In max 5 min movie started to freeze. In my tests with 4 mbps 1080p.
Tried also with a server with hw transcoding over p5000 and I had the same outcome.

Can this be a linux specific issue?

I have a user that have two Roku players extreme and Roku 3.

On the same server with the same file he is not encountering any issues with Roku extreme, but with Roku 3 he is heaving exactly the same issues. Both of them are under the same network.

@ebr what kind of Roku did you used to test ?

A Premiere.

Perhaps this video is too intense for some of the lower hardware.   What if you bump it down to 2Mb/s?

Doesn’t matter what I’m selecting, even 1Mbps buffers. The issue is with more then 70% of the content and everything worked ok before, not only that file. With that file is even worst due to the size :)

Before several server updates. I think the issue appeared 4-5 weeks ago. Also users with roku stable channel encounters this and there were no uptates on stable channel

And, if you play the same items using the stable server they don't have this problem?
