My question here is the Samsung UE40H6200AK tizen or orsay? I have checked online and by my reading it could be either. The current app on that TV is Emby Theater 0.122 which I presume is the Orsay app. And no longer developed. With the latest server updates, this TV emby app has a tendency to simply close when starting some streams on both direct play and trans-coding. The TV is about 4 years old from new so quite possibly a 2014 model Any help or advice welcome Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
FrostByte 5041 Posted October 30, 2019 Share Posted October 30, 2019 Your TV should be using the legacy OS Orsay unless you buy an evolution kit to make Tizen https://developer.samsung.com/tv/develop/specifications/tv-model-groups There are 2 Orsay apps for the Samsung. The community app which is no longer developed and the official app which you are running. The official app is still maintained though Samsung says they are no longer accepting updates for the legacy app as of last Oct. Luke is trying to get them to take one more update anyway. You could try running the community app alongside the official app to see how it works for you while waiting to see if Samsung will accept another update to the official Orsay app As far as the crashing app goes, is it any certain audio or file type that makes it crash? kjhedges 49 Posted October 30, 2019 Author Share Posted October 30, 2019 Hi, thanks for the response. With regard the crash, it is mainly just at the start of playing some media, not specific. Once i load the app again on the tv and play the same media file, it will work. With regards the the Community app. Is this the USb install app from https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/9869-samsung-orsay-smarttv-2011-2014-community-app-install-instructions/ With regards the evolution kit. But, as a note, I notice that it is only the home page of the Community App. Blindly I can play items from the home page or I can blindly navigate up to categories, (movies, tv ect) and within there, ie TV Series, it shows me all the content of tv series. So it appears that it is only the Home page of the community app for me that is not showing any content, although its there. If you go in to settings you should see you where you can choose the ones you want to see. You should be able to see all your libraries though from the folder view. Is my memory playing tricks here........ .....Was there at any time an Emby app available for my said Samsung TV that had a older Emby Theatre view, and then the later Emby App Version 0.122 that has a more Roku Emby app design I seem to remember that that version I used back then was more stable than the current. Is it possible to revert back to that version. It had a better UI IMHO too. But like I say, my memory could be shot and its all a dream Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
FrostByte 5041 Posted November 5, 2019 Share Posted November 5, 2019 Those are the only two apps I'm aware of - and I've been around for awhile Hopefully, Luke can get Samsung to accept v.123 which fixes a lot of issues with v.122. I just remember the layout and preferred that over any others i have seen. My server log. this was from a point of just on Emby with the Samsung TV in question. Finished watching a tv episode. Then went back to home screen and selected a tv episode from the next up list. Episode started to play for about 2 seconds, then tv went back to normal mode. I restarted emby from the smart menu and I was greeted with the startup process of entering pin from emby.media/pin I also found that I cannot edit some menu items on the tv. I cannot set auto play nextup and a few others. Other apps on the tv still work perfect. no issues on any jumping out of app. I have also just checked plex again out of curiosity, and that app seems to work fine too. Thank you Agree, the community app needs a little facelift / updating to the feel of things. Unfortunately, the last two main developers of the community app have moved on. Until such time someone else takes the project on (everything is on GitHub) you are kind of bound by what you can do in settings. There are a couple folks around who keep it compatible with server updates and fix major bugs, but that's about it. The official app of course isn't going to get updated in the store unless Samsung reverses their decision on not accepting any further updates to the app running on their legacy OS.
