I havent been able to find any other references to this problem.

I have determined that this problem began after the recent update from 3.0.82 to 3.0.85, as I tested it on my S8 phone and got no response after clicking the Play icon.

I also tested the previous verion on mu Tab4 tablet and castingworked OK both on my lounge TV and the bedroom TV.

I then tested Tmby server i nWindows and this workedOK.

Let me know if you need more info.

Is it fixed already. Did you had to do anything?

Still broken here.

Thanks

Sorry I spoke too soon. There is still a problem of recorded TV not playing. After touching the play icon the art and synopsis displays. Then the white spinner starts then just a blank screen. All other video files and photos play fine. I've tried different streaming quality settings too. Hope this helps.

Well after spending some time trying to get to the bottom of this, I feel a bit silly.

First, I had forgotten that I had rebuilt Windows using a 3 week old image that did not have the Hauppauge tuner drivers installed, so no recordings were going to take place. So the recordings showing up in the app had 0.ts files.

Next I remembered that the only way I can use live TV on Chromecast (I only use this for testing) is to reduce the streaming quality to 1080p - 4Mbps. This allows me to fast forward quickly through recordings.

Somehow the updated app reset this to Auto and I didn't notice.

So all videos now working in the app.

Thanks for your time.

I have also issues with casting from Emby to Google Chromecast.

I have tried on two Nvidia Shield TV devices and with Emby on android and IOS.

Both have the same issues. I see on my tv the Emby log and ready to cast and when I hit play the screen gets black for a while and than it finally starts playing. But with so much stuttering that is not watchable.

When I watch anything from these mobile devices on youtube and cast it I have no issue at all.

Also no issues playing media with Emby for Kodi on my shield tv devices.

What could be the problem here?

I would suggest lowering the in all Chromecast quality setting as it may just be too high.

There are two things that solves the issue.
1. Disable subtitles and it works perfectly but than I don’t have subtitles so that is not really a solution.
2. I have enabled direct subtitle extraction in transcoding and set the chromecast quality to 1080p 60mbps.
Than it takes a few seconds to play but it keeps playing. The setting before was set to automatically.

For now it is solved.

Thanks.

If you had extraction disabled then most likely this results in subtitles being burnt in with transcoding. You have to make sure your server machine can handle that, as it is a very costly process, even for powerful machines.
