HotteHotte 5
Hello! Even though my LG OLED TV can decode Dolby Atmos internally, it's HDMI standard is too old to pass on Atmos via ARC to my Denon Receiver. So I bought the FireTV Cube (2nd Gen) which I connected directly to the AVR, as I read that the Cube would support Atmos out of the box. But besides from the Netflix App I don't get Atmos anywhere, which I find odd. Within the Emby App the highest output format I get for my 4K movie MKV's is Dolby True HD 7.2, which my Denon can convert into Atmos via Neural:X. However, if I play the same file with PowerDVD from my PC (also connected to the Receiver) the device will correctly detect the Atmos format. So I wonder what needs to be done in the FireTV settings to also get Atmos Sound from there as well. At the moment the Audio option is set to "highest format possible". I tried switching it to "always use Dolby Digital" but this didn't yield any better results. Within the Emby App I've passtrough enabled. Can someone help me with this issue? ebr 14910
Hi. The support of Atmos will depend on the carrying format I'm sure. Atmos is just a layer on top of the normal audio codec. Netflix, I'm sure, is using DD+ as the underlying format and, since that is fully supported on the Fire, it works properly. Do you have an item with a DD+ Atmos track to test? I would expect that True HD would not work as it would need to be converted on the Fire platform.
lightsout 144
Agreed, Atmos is a bit confusing as what the device manufacturers are advertising is almost always lossy Atmos that you can get through a streaming service. Lossless Atmos that is found on a disc is less widely supported. Have you tried with other apps like Kodi?
HotteHotte 5
I'll give Kodi a try and let you know the results.

Which is a bummer because it has a great SOC.
Luke 37058
It's probably just not available yet for third party apps to utilize.

HotteHotte 5
I've now tested myself, and sadly I can confirm that Kodi doesn't output Atmos either.
