GrumpyBear2014 0
When an upgrade from 2.6 am I able to keep my viewed programs? If so how? So when I upgrade to this new Client, how do I keep all of my shows and movies that I have already watched marked as watched? I really don't want to have all of my movies, TV shows as New and Unviewed. There has to have been people out there that have upgraded from 2.6 to 3.0. Do these settings all get reset? GrumpyBear2014 0
What happens to all of the movies and shows that I already have and have watched? They are now marked as watched. If I do this upgraded to the new client are all my shows going to be marked as new and unviewed? What needs to be done to carry the settings over from 2.6? Solution Deathsquirrel 741 Posted June 10, 2014 Solution Share Posted June 10, 2014 There really is no upgrade from 2.6 to 3.0 so no, nothing like that is preserved. You can likely use Trakt to migrate the watched data over. Depending on formats and naming conventions used your local metadata and images may also be reused.
swhitmore 781
Have a look at the Trakt plugin. You'll need to install this on your old version BEFORE you upgrade. Then sync everything to Trakt. After you install MB3, you can then sync everyone back from Trakt. Just be careful the order in which you do things. If you get stuck, shout out. AdrianW 1052
I initially tried to use Trakt - but it didn't work 100% for some reason. I wasn't really fussed about movies, but TV show watched status was very important to me. What I ended up doing was opening MB2 on my TV collections and putting it into poster view, with four rows of posters with the unwatched count clearly visible, and then I just took photos of them all - scrolling a screen full at a time. Then using MB3's web interface it's really quick to mark entire shows, seasons and/or episodes as watched.
swhitmore 781
I would hate to think how long that would take with my collection I've never had issues with Trakt though.

I have all my completed shows in a different "Archive" collection, so I only had to take shots of ongoing series. With four rows on the screen, one screenshot included about 56 shows - I ended up with 8 or 9 screenshots each with a bit of overlap. Didn't take too long at all. GrumpyBear2014 0
Thank you for the replies. Sadly it looks as though I am going to be a grumpy bear when I migrate ( won't use the word update) to the new Browser. The way I have things set up now is all of my media is stored on a NAS. I then have my HTPC using Windows Media Center with Media Browser as the add on. So no real way of keeping the settings.
BATTLE DONKEY 98
Why don't you install the server first, once its installed u can use the web dashboard to go thru ur media and mark items watched, still using MB2 as ur guide for what's watched and what isn't. Once everything matches then uninstall MB2 and install MediaBrowser Classic. That's how I did it, took a little bit of manual work but at least that way I had the server completely set up before I took the plunge and deleted MB2

You can keep all your watched statuses...

Only if he already has the Trakt plug-in on MB 2 because there is no way to get it now - unless Redshirt has an old copy.

GrumpyBear2014 0
Thanks for the tips. No I don't have Trakt plugin installed on the MB 2. So we can rule that out as an option. Using the dashboard most likely won't work either as that is on the server side. I have two clients that will be accessing the server. One is for the kids and the other is for us older big kids. So no it becomes an issue as to what programs they have watched and what programs us adults have watched.
