Ah, yeah, the single rear channel.  Not sure why the player is reporting only 6 channels.  Maybe there actually isn't an LFE channel.

In any case, the next beta release of the app should be more forgiving in this situation and, hopefully, will allow you to switch these tracks.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I sent a report from my nvidia shield and the user was Michael.

Following Issue:

My wife reported that emby plays the wrong audiostream, german instead the selected japanese, so I tried it on my iPad but there all works fine. So I tried it on my shield and encountered the same issue. Neither the preselection of the language nor changing during the playing stream had any effect, it played only the default stream in direct play.

I thought that this effect based on the direct play and this was true. As soon as I forced a transcode the correct audiostream was played. Oh, boath audio stream are the same codec.

thx for help

Hi.  The problem is the channel count doesn't match.  Our info says 7 (6.1 - whatever that is...) but the player only sees 6 (which makes a lot more sense).

Can you try refreshing the item?

@softworkz what is a 6.1 channel layout and is it possible we are discovering/reporting this incorrectly (similar to how we are incorrectly reporting mono tracks)?

Hi there,

i can give you the following answers:

1.  I tried the suggested refresh with no effect.
2. 6.1 is correct. This format has an additional speaker in the rear between rear left and right.
3.  the german stream has the same format like the Japanese one and works correct. Unfortunately i hear the German sound when I want to hear the Japanese one instead, too.

hope I could help

ffmpeg knows three 6.1 variants:

  • FL+FR+FC+LFE+BC+SL+SR => Back-Center, Side-Left, Side-Right
  • FL+FR+FC+LFE+BL+BR+BC => Back-Center, Back-Left, Back-Right
  • FL+FR+LFE+FLC+FRC+SL+SR => No Front-Center but Front-Right-Center, Front-Left-Center
For the discovery, I would need to check with a media sample.
