striker008 2
Playback in general was working perfectly until a few days ago. I am running Ubuntu 16.04 server with Emby 4.2.1.0 (however just updated to 4.3.0.13 to see if that would fix it). The issue started with my roku's. They kept showing all media as loading, which popped up every second. Then I tried on my phone and my laptop outside the home a day or two later (I have 250Mbps internet). Adjusted bitrate down to like 144 and still pauses at best every 3 seconds. The CPU is overpegged when I start playing media. I have read through the forums here and tried several adjustments (which I have all changed back now). Completely at a loss how to get this fixed, so appreciate any and all help. ffmpeg-transcode-3fcafefa-e0e6-41dc-b12d-408408091a7f_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-62553fd7-3623-41a1-b90a-16d088318f57_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-af9437b3-e40b-44a4-bb89-d86602ad6b38_1.txt
Luke 36884
Hi, it looks like you're just not getting fast enough transcoding. Have you tried rebooting your machine?
striker008 2
Yes, rebooted many times. Update though....on an iphone and samsung smart tv inside the home, the playback works. I rebooted again and tried playing outside the home, attached another log. Still every two seconds freezing. ffmpeg-transcode-c3127f9b-0ace-4ceb-9600-d1fd41f0f52e_1.txt Edited October 11, 2019 by striker008

Assuming the log you posted is for the same movie that you can play successfully on your home network, it's because your server doesn't have to transcode that file. It is transcoding when you're outside your network likely due to bandwidth, and as Luke stated above, your server can't handle it... it's putting out 17fps. Does an Intel® Core i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz with 8gb of RAM seem too weak to you then? Never more than one trans code at a time. I figured that would be plenty since my raspberry pi plays the files fine, but maybe I am wrong.

If locally, it plays fine because that file doesn't need to be transcoded when you're on your local lan. Thats the whole point. And that CPU is a 10yr old mobile processor. While you should be able to do a single transcode, those ffmpeg logs don't agree. Basically, figure out why your server is transcoding that file, and remedy it. You can see why it's transcoding in stats for nerds or on the admin page. Edited October 11, 2019 by mastrmind11
