That version stutters, just the same as with the ET version.

(I really appreciate your help with this btw... :-) )

Can you complete the logging entry and post a log from that?

You can also try adding this to your conf. This will increase the log level for the video output.

And I'd forgotton about peak detection. The difference between mpv and those other players is probably that they aren't tone mapping and not using peak detection. This will increase decoder load. And if you don't have the correct opengl shader support, that too can cause problems. There's a ton of peak detection in your log, so that might be partly to blame. So lets turn that off and see what happens. Add this line to the  HDR profile.

Yeah, sorry, I'd forgotten about that. I turn it off, even though I have more than enough power to run it. I find that I prefer the results with it disabled. So if that works for you, just add that line in your mpv.conf for Theater.

Are you running Windows in HDR?

The title of this thread should be renamed 'HDR Playback in Theater Desktop is not smooth', or something like that

you should really use the extended view of the mpv stats plugin to track down what processing part is slowing down your playback

I'm using the March 10th Git build in that zip file. That's the last we can use, because later than that, live tv won't work.

emby "fault"?

cause live tv are just streams, can't imagine mpv could broke there something

sry for hooking in again just seem to have overlooked that "issue"

No, not running Windows in HDR. It's not giving me the option, although perhaps if I connected direct to the TV (rather than via the AVR) it would?

Indeed - I didn't know that at the time though...

Thanks again for your help.

No. Emby uses the stream-cache, and mpv removed it in march. It's still in the 'release', but will be gone in the next official release.

You probably have an HDMI 1.4 socket. So you won't be able to use HDR in Windows. You'll have to use tone-mapping.

The PC is HDMI 2.0. I need to do some re-wiring to try it, but I shall...
