Z4ng3tsu 0
Hi everybody ! I recently set my Emby server on a fresh RPie 4 and first wanted to say that it's really an amazing system (I tested Plex but not convinced on a lot of criteria). I was doing some tests between the client apps (Web Theater App, Web app, Theater windows application, Android App, PS4 with web theater because I can't call it a PS4 app sorry, that would be lying) and found a strang behavior. On the same computer (but not on my local network with the emby server) and the same movie, I tried the web application through Chrome and the Windows Emby Theater application : The web app is forced to transcode and the subtitles doesn't show up The Emby Theater windows application workes in direct play without any issue and the subtitles are perfectly displayed. Any idea why I have such a difference on the same computer ? Every parameters about connection was on Auto. Thank you

Z4ng3tsu 0
Browsers have a lot more limitations, Theater as it has its own media player, Thanks for your answer ! I assumed that too. Too bad because Android and Windows Emby Theater are two great applications that work incredibly great. But the PS4 web app is awful and the web app and the Chromecast one are just correct. I hope that they will be improved in the months/years coming. Especially the Chromecast or the PS4 (I don't have too much hope for a real PS4, I know it's not a great dev env) Edited September 24, 2019 by Z4ng3tsu
Happy2Play 8273
You would have to go over a specific example and post a server and ffmpeg logs. But what are you calling awful?
Luke 37046
We're doing the best we can given with is available to us on PS4. If we had a PS4 app, it would look exactly the same, except there wouldn't be an on-screen mouse pointer. That's the main awkward aspect of using the Emby Theater web app on the ps4. Don't worry, I know the PS4 is not the most user friendly device to dev on. And I tested the Plex application... Not really great too because of limitations probably requested by the PS4 itself. My "awful" (sorry...) is about the not so great compatibility of the PS4 web browser with Emby Theatre. You have a wonderful display, you can navigate with the directionnal pad and then... you select what's under the hand pointer :'(. I don't know how much times I searched the web to see if I can disable this pointer but no.
