This may be a problem with the web app but I see the same thing from the android app.

When I go to delete something from the recordings view I very often see an immediate dialog that says "this is taking longer than is expected".   Don't really understand why that comes up IMMEDIATELY.   But the delete usually does take longer than is expected.  it's a simple delete but it often takes quite a few seconds.

And the web app almost never correctly updates.  if I refresh the page you can see the thing is gone but I shouldn't have to refresh the page to see that.   I've actually sometimes gone and used Plex (they are looking at the same dvr folder) to delete recordings since it does it instantly and refreshes the web app.

Just one of those few remaining niggles that keeps Emby from being really good.

You must be talking about Android TV.  If it takes more than 1/2 second for the server to respond, then you get that dialog so you know it is working on it.  The dialog disappears and the screen updates, correct?

I think there are lots of problems with delete.   Here is a screen capture I took just now deleting an NFL game.  As you can see I choose delete and NOTHING visually happens.  This is the web app in Chrome.   After some time I do a refresh and the game is indeed gone.  I just took another video on my phone showing some weird behavior with the timecode on playback. I'll start a new thread for that.

Depending on the screen you are deleting from yes there is/can be a refresh issues that requires a manual refresh.  But the item is deleted ever though the page has not refreshed.

But you would agree that's a bug which is why I'm reporting it.

To me from a browser perspective you will run into these issues across the board.  Almost every action would.could require a total refresh, so should it be forced or happen naturally with other user actions.  To me there is never a clear answer and everyone expects something different.  But only Luke can truly answer if it is by design or a bug.

Would appear to be the Seasons episode list shown in the video.

It *could* be by design but I highly doubt it.  Not trying to start anything but Plex does it right.  The file is deleted and the screen updated quickly and automatically.

please note that there are other areas where delete does this type of thing. I just took a video of a delete taking a long time on my shield.

I apologize in advance.  I want Emby to be better than Plex so I intend to post *alot* about the issues I see.  Again, I apologize in advance. :)

Okay, so the app is giving you visual feedback that something is happening.

That dialog disappears and the item deletes and disappears from the interface, correct?

Why are you guys thinking that is a problem...?

1.  The delete should be very quick if not nearly instant . It is not.  It very often takes 4-5 seconds

2.  The delete very rarely updates the screen.  Normally I have to exit the area and come back in before I see visual evidence that the item is gone

3.  A dialog that shows _immediately_ upon selecting delete that something is taking longer than expected is simply bad user experience.   If the delete takes longer than 2 seconds I would say then the dialog is warranted.  It shows instantly.

It is most definitely a bug. You may not want to fix it but it is a bug.  This is not about what we can live with.  It's about making Emby a truly quality product.

I cannot reproduce that in the Android TV app.  The screen is always updated for me.

Can you explain an exact scenario where this happens to you in the Android TV app?

Thanks.
