JBL 8
Hi Everyone, Apologies in advance if this question has been asked and/or answered in another thread... I'm seriously considering picking up a low cost Ryzen R5 3400G for my new Emby Server. The R5 3400G is a four core, eight thread CPU containing a little RX 11 Vega GPU Question: Does anyone think that a Ryzen R5 3400 would not be sufficient enough to Direct Play up to 4k content? My use cases are pretty simple... For Video: One, single Emby user, streaming to an XB1, Direct Play of 1080p and 4k content via 1 GB ethernet (**no transcoding**) For Audio: Direct play of MP3 content to an Emby user via 1 GB ethernet Occasionally streaming to an Emby user on a Samsung, via cellular (I'm not sure if this counts as transcoding or Direct Play) My current, ancient FX8370 handles Direct Play of 1080p content, but chokes on 4k (although I'm not sure if its the CPU in my Emby Server, or the XB1 choking on Direct Play 4k). legallink 187
If you aren’t transcoding, it should be fine.
Happy2Play 8252
Would be interested in knowing why your current setup has issues direct playing. From a direct play standpoint any cpu should work. Direct stream and transcode are another story.

ProperlyFormattedDataFile 3
I really doubt it's your CPU. For direct play, it's really just a question of how quickly you can read the file off the disk and move the bits to the ethernet card. There's no way a FX-8370 is the bottleneck there.
