Richard@54 0
Have been using EMBY for a year or so to stream music onto Cambridge Audio CXN and stream films etc via Roku to TV. All good until i did some upgrades. Changed broadband provider and installed Fritzbox router. Also replaced Mcaffee with AVG security. Now devices cannot see EMBY. Pretty sure its not an AVG problem because i have turned it off and problem still there. So i think its something to do with Fritzbox. Have restarted PC and rebooted EMBY which looks as if its all running OK on latest version.
Luke 36999
Hi, how does it normally see it? Is this over DLNA?
Richard@54 0
I am not certain because original set up was pretty straight forward and I am using same settings. But I know dnla is set in emby.
Luke 36999
Have you tried restarting emby server while the fritzbox software is running?
Richard@54 0
I restarted the pc but it didn't help. I am suspicious of the fritzbox to be honest and have the same question with them. The box has media server capability which I thought might be blocking emby so I turned it off but it didn't help. Reason I came to you was I thought other emby users may have encountered the same problem
pünktchen 1251
Are all your devices on the same subnet? Especially the Roku and your Cambridge Audio, do they by accident use the Guest WLAN?
Richard@54 0
Good morning and thanks for interest. Not entirely sure how subnets work. My set up is EMBY and all music vid files on a PC wired into Fritzbox router. Cambridge streamer also wired into router (better quality) not wifi connection. By the way the streamer happilly plays radio and can see Tidal and Fritzbox media server (even though i have disabled it). Roku is wired into Netgear powerline wifi extender. When i look at TV via Roku Emby starts up but then cant find any media, so i am guessing it cant see the server same as Cambridge. This morning i turned of absolutely everything including router. No difference.Very frustrating....
pünktchen 1251
In the Fritzbox settings under "Home Network" -> "Network" should be a table with all your connected devices. Can you post a screenshot of this?

Luke 36999
Is the machine running Emby Server listed there?

Richard@54 0
I am making a bit of progress. I decided to install Plex media server (sorry not being disloyal, its just for test purposes) to see if same problem happens. I found that my streamer cant see that either, but if i switch of AVG firewall my streamer can see the other media server. So this suggests 2 problems: - i need to fix firewall with AVG - some connection issue for EMBY So i am thinking there is something in the EMBY settings that is not quite compatible..... Richard@54 0
Hi working with AVG support i can now see PLEX server on my streamer. But although i have applied the same AVG fixes to EMBY and PLEX i still cannot see EMBY.... Any suggestions...
Luke 36999
What was the fix?
Richard@54 0
The actual change was suggested by AVG was: Let's configure sharing mode inside AVG program and check the status. Please open AVG Internet Security > Menu > Settings > Full Protection > Enhanced firewall > Check the boxes next to 'Internet Connection Sharing Mode' and 'Enable Automatic port scan detection' and if you access Plex media server. But prior to fix, with firewall ON, streamer could not see EMBY or PLEX. With firewall OFF streamer could see PLEX but not EMBY. After fix, streamer could see PLEX but not EMBY. So there is still an EMBY related issue that is not connected to AVG....

Can't see emby but can see plex..also android emby app cannot see emby when I try and add it . what I don't understand is that emby worked on my streaming devices beautifully before I changed router and pc security software.. Luke 36999
Sounds like those could be related to it.

Richard@54 0
Strangely this morning EMBY has popped up on the network screen in the router, whereas PLEX has not.. It has not made any difference, but i will query with Fritzbox - see the screen attached....
Richard@54 0
Hi again. Great news, suddenly EMBY is visible again to all my streamers. Had had to resort to installing PLEX, but yesterday i noticed that EMBY had reappeared on one of my streamers. Checked the others and yes there it was! I didnt change anything, so guessing an update in EMBY, Fritzbox, or AVG (which i dont like) has fixed problem. PLEX now deleted and everything good!
