agraves 2
Just downloaded the latest beta 3.0.79 on my aging asus Zen pad forever stuck on android 7 nougat. The screen appears blank and completely frozen and only hitting home and opening the app again reveals that the input was processed, just the screen didn't update for some reason. Poking around and bouncing to home and back, I got a video to load and it also didn't appear to play, but I was able to get the progress bar and time played to update and eventually the video did play, but only after a round trip to the home screen or two. I tried to get a log and attached the latest file from the logs directory, but it's a few weeks old so I don't know if it has anything useful. Luke 37007
Hi, when exactly is the screen blank?
agraves 2
The regular two-tone grey screen with the spinning circle comes up while it connects to my server but when the 'wait circle' goes away, only the menu bar with the person/login icon and search magnifyimg glass appears. If I get the setting menu up, it DOES seem to work, just any rendering of the UI with any of my media doesn't seem to be working. For what it's worth, on my pixel 2 XL running Android 10, this same version works fine so it is probably something to do with Nougat. I'll try to get a screen shot tonight when I'm home and have access to the tablet. The hardware in question is an Asus ZenPad 3S 10 model P027. Is there an easy way to revert to the previous beta version which worked just fine? Somewhere I could download it and sideload until this is fixed? This tablet and Emby is my daily elliptical workout companion! Edited September 11, 2019 by agraves
Luke 37007
Can you please try this version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vhejrc5j5b0h2fr/MediaBrowser.Mobile-google-armeabi-v7a-release.apk?dl=0 And then provide a log from the app: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/15638-how-to-report-an-android-problem/ Thanks. Luke 37007
Thanks. Please try again by re-downloading from the same url and then provide an app log again. Thanks.
agraves 2
Same result but I'm sure you were expecting that 7dc4b97b-e1ed-407d-9e2e-6dfab8e7a49d.log
Luke 37007
So are you saying it never loads, or does it just take a long time?
agraves 2
I'm saying it loads, but the screen doesn't update unless I either go "home" and open the app again, or hit app switch to the previous app and back, so it's still running background mode but has to respond to some kind of rising entire screen event. If I tap on the screen where I know a UI element is, when I force the screen to update, it has performed the expected action, just no visible sign. I'll try to record a video so it's more clear. rbjtech 4222
Agreed, same issue here. If I rotate the mobile/tablet - it then displays fine without needing to touch a thing.. It seems ANY button is pressed needs a screen rotation to action it or the display from it.. Playback - Now only plays sound - no video at all. Latest Beta Server (4.3.0.8) - Android Mobile Beta (3.0.79) Rolled back to Android Mobile 3.0.76 (non-Beta) and everything is now ok again - so I think it's Android Client related. (Android 7.1.1 on a Samsung Galaxy, but same issue on a Galaxy SM-T320 Tablet running LineageOS Android 7.1.2 ) Please let me know if you need logs. Thanks. agraves 2
I mean it does this, in the attached video. Menus work, and once the screen for the main UI is painted it is scrollable, but mostly it doesn't update unless I force a redraw. Audio plays for the video but as you can see to get the video and screen controls requires a rotate or app switch or power off/sleep then wake. Once the video is playing it all works fine, but once back in menu proper its not updating again. emby example.zip
Luke 37007
Thanks. As a test, if you try the online web app on the same device, how does that compare? http://app.emby.media
rbjtech 4222
For me - the app.emby.media works fine on my mobile - v 4.2.0.54 but has exactly the same issues as the OP if I install the latest Andoid beta app. Edited September 13, 2019 by rbjtech
Luke 37007
What beta version did it start with? 3.0.77 or 3.0.78?
blade005 172
What beta version did it start with? 3.0.77 or 3.0.78? @@Luke Same behavior as other posters on Android Mobile 3.0.79 on a device running Android 7.0. If you start the mobile app in portrait mode the home screen is not displayed unless you turn the orientation to landscape mode and then it paints the screen. Request another screen in landscape mode and it will not display until you change the orientation back to portrait. Every screen change requires an orientation change to display. Same device using app.emby.media displays correctly. Android mobile 3.0.79 on a device running Android 9.0 does not have this issue. Have to concur with others that it initially seems to be an Android 7.0 issue. Hopefully it can be resolved as I am in no hurry to move off this phone and it will not see another Android update. UPDATE: Emby for Android Mobile Beta Version 3.0.80 has fixed the screen display issue on my Android 7.0 system.
