Emby for Kodi crashing while adding music library

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Environment:

Server:

Windows

Emby Server 4.2.1.0

Client:

NVIDIA Shield - Kodi 18.4

Emby for Kodi 4.1.14

I am using this feature for the first time so forgive me for making an obvious mistake

I setup myusic within Emby and added the library to kodi using the Emby for Kodi add-on

During the import it seems to fail and show the "Something Went Wrong" message advising to start again next time Kodi relaods.

I have tried multiple times but it keeps failing

I uploaded my Kodi log to https://paste.kodi.tv/udahuhelen

Please let me know if there is any other info you require

The request for your music seems to timeout. How big is your music library?

Pretty modest at the moment

About 10GB and 2000 files/songs

EDIT: Perhaps a network issue? I will change the connection from the Shield and test again

EDIT 2: Unable to change my network setup right now so couldn't change and test but added another post about size of TV Show library

Also, just a note, I have far more TV episodes than songs but don't run into this issue when adding the TV Shows library

Probably just over 10,000 TV episodes

Yes music is pulled in a similar way as tv shows. It just seems like the server is taking way longer to respond, it seemed to get stuck on the first or second artist in your music list.

Do you have a server log to go with your attempts?

This log should contain the relevant information

The time should be around the 06/09/2019 22:00 although I can't be sure

I apologise in advance if the log is too large

Can you check the server log? Why is it probing like this, is the add-on triggering this somehow, is this normal?

@@benaus

I couldn't find the query from Emby for Kodi for music around the time you mentioned, but your server seems to be probing music in that log, I'm not sure if it's related to what you are seeing when trying to sync music.

So I removed the folder with that file in it

Updated the Music library on the Emby Server

Then resumed sync

It started going a little further then stopped again

I have attached the Emby server log as well as uploading the Kodi log and copying the URL into this post

Could it be the folder/file length causing the issue?

Kodi log: http://paste.kodi.tv/lukususedo

Emby Server log attached

Should it not be? Is it doing that repeatedly on every library scan?

Hi @@Luke

Yes, every scan

It also seems to prevent me from updating TV shows and Movies into Kodi because the import scan stops

I am going to try and fix file names and tags tonight and see if that helps

Something similar was reported here:

I would follow that topic. Thanks.

That would be for scans on the Emby server side

Not having issues there

I should've added that the import scan is on the Kodi side not the server. What I meant was that because the Emby for Kodi scan is unable to complete it is not populating new TV Shows or Movies because the Music seems to be trying first then crashing

Scans for new content on the server are running fine, no issues

Well I asked if those media probes were happening on every library scan and I thought you said yes to that.

Sorry, had just finished a night shift and didn't read properly

I meant the Library on Kodi, not the server

So are you seeing those media probes repeatedly, on each library scan?

Everytime I open Kodi and the Emby for Kodi plugin connects

Just an update as well, I cancelled the music addition. When it went to run the box set scan it got stuck

I attempted a local database reset and that's failing

I will completely uninstall Kodi and then reinstall. Then install the plugin and run the initial scan again

I will update this post when that's finished

That has nothing to do with it. Don't uninstall, just restart Kodi and then do the reset, you are probably catching it while it's still pulling content from the server.

I believe what Luke is asking is in your Emby server, if library scans are reprobing your music files every time.

Open your server dashboard > library > on the music library 3 dots > scan library files. Check your server log, do you see your already imported music being probed still?

Hi @@Angelblue05

I haven't uninstalled yet and will check out if it is doing the probe

@@Luke I am sorry I didn't understand you requests, my bad for that
