JaScoMa 33
Just a couple quick questions, if I do this, I'll still need a player such-as a Roku to display on the tv? Or can it run as a server streaming directly through the Shield to my TV? I have a NAS device too and obviously authentication to connect to the different shares. Does the emby web interface for the Shield allow for this? I'd assume so, but you know what they say about assuming.. ha-ha.. Thanks..
Luke 36879
Yes you'll still need a player app, but that app could be our Android TV app on the Shield itself.
JaScoMa 33
Great, thanks for the info. Going to give this a whirl and see how it works.
JaScoMa 33
Went ahead and purchased a Shield Pro and am currently using this as a player. Have Smokey and the Bandit encoded h.264 and it's total bitrate is 22987kb . With the Roku, it was buffering, play a few seconds, then buffer, etc. With the Shield, it started the movie and played it without any issues. There was no buffering at all. I had issue where tv shows would jump back at the end of an episode, but I believe my issues are resolved with this. Will test and let you know. Thanks..
