Latest beta, uploaded .srt to movie folder and library scan does not show it anymore for me. Yes, naming is correct.

I feel this way because i cant see any subtitles that were added manually to movie folder, after individual library scan or all library scan. Started experiencing it after latest beta.

A "Refresh metadata" picks up my manually added srt files on Emby beta server on Windows platform, so please state your Emby Server platform.

Ubuntu 16

So what did you select to update your library for your manually added srt's  ?

  1. Refresh metadata
  2. Scan Library files

Scan individual and scan all libraries. There is no refresh metadata on latest beta for me, not in previous way..refresh metadata - scan files

Hmm, i removed completely movie, re scanned all libraries , than copied new movie again scanned and now it showed up. so basically difference is first time i added movie without sub, scanned, and later added srt sub scanned and it didn't showed up. Had to remove movie completely and re-scan when both movie and srt are initially scanned.

So you are saying that under the "three dot menu" on Emby Server Home Screen, that "Refresh Metadata" is not available ?

@Luke Is that option Work in progress on Ubuntu 16 ?

It is available, but for refreshing metadata, i wanted to scan library for new files (and subtitles later).

Personally I believe "Scan for new and updated files" needs to return as Refresh Metadata option to be able to update a item instead of scanning a library in situations like this.  But I would have to test more but have not experience a scan not picking up changes like this.

It's the same thing as the "Scan library files" option.

Thanks, i will try to reproduce. There is other thread about refresh metadata / scan library, think this one click scan library is better since it is more logical term.

But that is not available on a item, only a library.  Or is is going to be extended to items in a future release?  Currently the only options on a item are Refresh Metadata-Replace all/Search for missing.

So when subs are manually added, what do we have to choose ?

If you have the real-time monitor enabled and it's supported on your environment, then I would just do nothing. But as far as the options go, based on the labels, which one do you think you should select?

There should be something at item level, as Search for missing metadata and Refresh all do not apply to this scenario but obviously work.

Real-time monitoring is disabled on ALL of my libraries, because I want to be in control when something in Emby is updated.

The previous workflow was clear to me, now it isn’t.

That doesn't work when you update the quality of video file which has the same name, hence the reason we need the "Scan for new and updated files" back.

Running a library scan is overkill.
