lightsout 144
Saw this in the change notes for the recent Shield update. "Adds additional refresh rates for 720p resolutions for apps supporting refresh rate switching" Any idea when this will make it to emby? ebr 14903
It should already be there. The app queries the display for all available modes and will choose the best one for the media being played.

If the video is 720p24 it will change it to 1080p24. Kodi doesn't exhibit this behavior.
ebr 14903
I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to achieve here. If your display is 1080 why do you want us sending 720 to it?

My display is 2160p. It is commonly understood that the upscaling on the Shield is poor compared to most TV's. So instead of the Shield doing the upscaling the TV is handling that. This is the whole point of allowing the resolution to change is it not?

I would say that may be "commonly thought" to be the case but I'm not sure I've ever seen any proof of that. However, we'll take a look at what needs to be done in the app. Thanks. But it does seem to be a pretty common agreement that the Shield has weaker picture quality than other devices. I have yet to see empirical evidence to back this up myself.
