Hello!

I left 4.3.0.1 installed in a separate jail (FreeNAS) and testing out 4.2.0.2 in a new jail.

The wife loves her Disney movies and this one in question happens to be an .avi format.

I am playing via Roku (tried both stable and beta, both fail to play from the .2 server and can play this same file from the .1 server).

The file is the same, and both server versions point to the exact same file/location.

I restarted both servers and pulled logs of the event attached here:

4.3.0.2:
vid_fail.txt

4.3.0.1

vid_working.txt

Thanks

Hi Luke, of course here you are, also for reference, movie in question: /mnt/movies/Emperors New Groove.avi

edit: 4.3.0.2 ffmpeg log did not have a recent timestamp on it right after I did this test so that's why I didn't include, I apologize, will mention that next time :)

Also, I forgot to describe what happened on the Roku, when you select play it goes to the loading screen and says 'retrieving' with the background image of the movie, and just sits there.  It locks up I have to hit 'back' a few times on the Roku remote and it will bring up a menu and to get out I have to exit Emby completely.  Loads normal and plays from the 0.1 server.

Thanks!

I notice those are two different videos. Have you tried this video on 4.3.0.2?

"/mnt/movies/Emperors New Groove.avi"

I have both pointing to the same directory and am attempting to play that same file in both cases.  When I pulled the ffmpeg logs more things has been selected, it might be further up in the log, or may not show at all since I noticed no recent timestamp on the 4.3.0.2 server after trying to play this file.

I restarted to clear and tried again (4.3.0.2).

No recent timestamp on the ffmpeg log again so I dont think its getting entries for attempting to play this file.

I also noticed that in the dashboard it shows its playing (and the time stamp increments like its playing) but the TV/Roku is stuck on the loading screen showing the loading bar at 0% and saying 'retrieving'.  For 15 seconds or so then it stops saying its playing:

So here is right when I hit play:

15 second or so later, the whole time the TV/Roku shows just the loading/retrieving screen:

Here is the log screen after running that test:

Attaching the emby and ffmpeg from that screencap, right after the test was run.

edit:

Here is the file playing from the .0.1 server and working:

Thanks!

Identical issue I am have on my 50 inch Roku TV...

I am digging into this but it looks related to something on the server. Not anything in the Roku app or Roku firmware looks responsible for this...

The fallback tries to fallback but gets stuck because the stream is never fed to it which is what causes the need to fallback to begin with.

This is the error. This is not normal this is usually recoverable from but in this case it is fatal...

An unexpected problem (but not server timeout or HTTP error) has been detected.

@Luke you tracking this? 4.3.01 works 4.3.02 broken...

It seems only xvid are having this issue too..

@Luke Blue Neon Night app is broken in the same identical way. This has to be a server issue.

Thanks @speechles, good to know I am not crazy!  I tried Roku stable and Beta and same results.  The fact its not even hitting the ffmpeg log makes it look like it just stalls before it starts streaming for some reason.

it isn't even making any ffmpeg logs for these sometimes. When it does make ffmpeg logs it is showing it is copy both streams which is fine. Roku supports XviD on some models and we detect support for that accurately. The issue is it looks like this might be hardware acceleration related possibly. I haven't tried to disable this yet.

By chance what video card are you using? Are you a premiere member with hardware acceleration? If so which video card? Mine is an MSI Branded Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti Gaming X 4G

I am a premier member but do not have a video card in the system, its running on:

FreeNAS 11.2 U5

Gigabyte C246M-WU4

Intel I3 9100

I will have to check if I have HW acceleration enabled or not, I think it will try to use the iGPU on the CPU but I dont have a real card in there to support HW acceleration.

Hi @Luke,

Just checking in here to see if you need anything else from me to help diagnose the issue.
