Emby preventing sleep

Okay, HDD hibernated with network cables connected.  So hibernation and sleep both seem to be working with Emby running.

Anyhow, found an "ID Ten T" error after turning on Emby debug logging which I corrected and now it works.

ME, I'm the ID Ten T :)

You have to have debug logging on to see these

First of all, apologies to @yarez0 who was correct.  However, in my defense I know for a fact that I had those tasks turned off at some point in the last beta.  Maybe the stable turned those 2 tasks on, not sure.  I don't ever hibernate or sleep my server because I've got Surveillance Center always recording video from the IP cameras monitoring the farm so I can't say for sure when they got added.

Anyhow, the fix for me was deleting the 2 sync tasks which were keeping the server awake

Thanks but that will pretty much break some major features of Emby Server so users should not be doing that unless they understand the impact.

However (and thanks for all the previous posts guys), I do need mine to sleep! The previous build worked perfectly, but the new one doesn't. So how do I fix it? Got a bit lost with the ID Ten T thing!

Do you have the 2 sync tasks scheduled?  You could delete those, but Luke says it may not be a good thing.

If not, turn on debug logging and post the log.  That's how I found all those sync entries which were waking mine up

Do you mean these FrostByte? I've changed them all to do their thing at Sunday @ 12.00am when I was trying to resolve this matter before. I've turned on debug logging and I guess I have to wait for a bit before I post it? Any idea how long? :) Thanks.

Yes, the 2 at the very bottom.  I deleted those and my system was able to hibernate HDD and go to sleep also.  I waited for as long as my NAS was set to hibernate which was 10 mins, maybe a little longer.  Make sure you reboot after changing the debug logging on

Hmm I mean I could get rid of them, but I don't want to break any major features. Anyway, I've attached my debug log - hope this helps!

You have requests coming in from the web app pretty much the whole time here, it's not going to sleep when that is the case.

@jonboyuk  if you do another log try to make sure there are no clients attached.  I disconnected my NAS from the router while I waited so I would just get log data initiated by the server.

Right and just so we're clear, it's very unlikely to be able to sleep with debug logging on, but it might help us identify why it's not happening.

Hi, I had the same problem with my DS218+, it woke up constantly from hibernation. I found out, that it is caused by two things.

The first is aggressive logging - in my case there are messages from synology media server SSD advertisements periodically written to log.

The second is hidden scheduled tasks, which triggers are based on time intervals, most of them have 24hours interval, but one of them has 3hours interval.

My solution was to move log folder to /tmp and create symlink to original location (on synology /tmp is in-memory tmpfs mountpoint). After that, when some message is written to log file, it will not generate any writes to disks anymore.

Second thing was to change triggers for all normal and hidden tasks - I've changed all triggers to fire up daily at 12am. It seems that changing triggers for hidden tasks is not permanent, so it needs to be changed on every boot via synology task scheduler.

Now my DS218+ is sleeping like a baby and wake up only once a day at 12am.

@@Dexterus, what logging statements are you referring to?

Ok, with the next release you shouldn't see those log lines anymore. Thanks.

Will that fix the non-sleeping issue for me then Luke (whenever it might be released?) Is there a beta for the Syno?
