Emby app stops playing music when the phone switches from WiFi to mobile data

Operating system: Fedora 29

Server version: 4.1.1.0

Emby mobile version: 3.0.59

Android version: 5.1.1 on Samsung Galaxy J1

I went out for a walk with my phone but while Emby devs implement the requested mobile data menu setting, I have to switch it manually from Auto to 128Kbps to save my data.

The phone was connected to WiFi when I started to play a song, so I walked out and the phone switched automatically to mobile data once I was far away. The song was still playing.

What happened is, when the song finished and the next one was ready to play, it didn't play, instead the app started to skip songs so I stopped playback and tried to resume it again, but nothing happened, playback didn't start so I had to close the app (by removing it from memory) and then reopen it again to fix the problem.

When I got home, I tried the oposite, from mobile data switched the phone to WiFi while a song was playing and it happened the same issue, the app started to skip songs.

I took the LG G3 phone to test this and it was the same problem.

What's happening is that although the user interface has automatic switching between the local and remote server addresses, we do not yet have this during media playback. It's something we can add in the future though.

No wonder!, should I create a feature request for this?

Sure, although it's already approved before you even create it. It's something we ought to have.

Ok, no problem, I'll remind you in a year about it in this very topic, thank you for letting me know this.

I don't know if this was already implemented in the web app or if you implemented it recently but I noticed that my music now keeps playing when my phone switches from Wi-Fi to mobile data and viceversa, I suppose the Android app still doesn't work with this right?, I don't have it installed so I wonder, thank you for implementing this.

No, the audio player doesn't have automatic address switching. Only the user interface when browsing around.

Then what is it what I experienced?, I was amazed when I saw that playback didn't stop when my phone switched from Wi-Fi to mobile data and viceversa.

Well if both connect to your server via the remote address, then the address doesn't have to change and that might work.
