"There was an error adding the media path" on Nvidia Shield

Hi guys,

I just installed the latest server beta on my Nvidia Shield and I'm having issues adding my video library folder, getting "there was an error adding the media path..." error. I have an external HDD connected to my router and shared over my network via SMB. When adding the media library I tried using the provided drop-down menu and was able to find the folder, but that didn't work so I tried entering manually using \\server and \\192.168.1.101 but still no dice.

Maybe Emby Server doesn't currently support password protected SMB? Other media players on my Shield can read/write to this share, so it's not a limitation of the Shield at play here. If anyone has any ideas please let me know!

The beta will work fine but you'll need to delete your library.db file.

There's a topic in the testing area about this. We use the testing area for beta related discussion. Thanks.

Where?

I check testing area for server every few days and I never stumbled upon this issue. But it happened today on my Mac emby server 4.2.0.40 while I tried to create new library and I got exact same message as in title of this thread. The library did “create” but is is unusable: it is there among other libraries but it is unmanagable and scan libraries button doesn’t respond.

I mean these kind of things are really frustrating. It happened to me in stable release and I stumbled on this thread by accident! If there is a known “fix” for anything that is part of essential features that implies user’s manual intervention that should be announced somewhere where it is unmissable! It is really not ok that you expect that every emby user is a geek who scrolls through forums 24/7. Or that is reading forums at all! Announcements thread should be enough.
