Subtitles out of aspect ratio framing.

Hello, I've recently noticed that when I play a subtitled movie with Emby Theater the positioning is outside of the movie field and is placed in the black bars.  This wasn't how Emby behaved before.  How do I get the subtitles back into the framing of the picture?

What version of Emby Theater?

@ do you know if mpv has any configuration for this?

Yeah, try --sub-pos=90 or a lower number

Is that a fixed position though?

Windows 3.0.8

Is this a command line argument?  It doesn't seem to change placement.

My guess, the movie has been encoded with the black bars included in the vertical dimension. MediaInfo will tell you.

I see this also with an external player. If the black bars have been included in the encode then subtitles can be positioned in the bottom black bar, or with two lines, one in the movie and the second in the black bar. Drives me crazy, but I've learned to live with it. Most video material I've come across doesn't include the black bars in the video resolution, so repositioning of subtitles for those that do means that the position of subtitles for those that don't will be too high.

I guess it's up to how much material you have that needs this repositioning.

I'll have to see how mpv handles that. I don't think the padding makes a difference, but I'll check.

--sub-pos=90

--sub-pos=100

And --sub-pos=90 when there is no padding. (This is in a window. When scaled to full screen, padding is added and subs are positioned as the first picture)
