TV Automatically Logging Into Last Account Used

Hi,

My living Room TV has suddenly started logging into the last used account.

We use blank PINs and up until now we just quit the app and were presented with a picture login when starting Emby.

Now we need to logout of Emby first to get back to the 'picture' logon screen.

The other, bedroom TV is fine (does not auto login).

Both are using the USB install.

I tried to delete and install from the Samsung Store but get the same problem.

Had to remove the store one and install back from USB as my store still has the older 1.0.61 version (with the spinning orb when you skip forward, backward).

Any way to fix this version problem too, as I read the new 62 version should be available in the store.

Cheers.

I assume that's your NU model then.  Premium sets must have gotten the release first

Yes, its the Model: UE43NU7120

I just tested on the bedroom TV by uninstalling Emby and reinstalling from the store.

This got the latest version.

However when I logged in and quit Emby it automatically logged me back in.

I fixed this by doing a manual login and deselecting remember me.

This fixed the auto-logon problem now when using the picture login.

Tried to repeat it on the Living Room TV and noticed I cannot deselect 'Remember me'.

Might also explain why some other options keep switching themselves on for me (seasonal themes etc), as I cannot deselect these either.

Tried 3 different remotes and a wireless keyboard.

Thinking I may have to do a reset of the TV and if this fails try if from the installers menu.

A regular reset did not work.

Neither did deleting and reinstalling Emby again.

What I did notice was Emby remembered my server setting.

The bedroom TV needs to have the server setup after a delete and reinstall.

I will try an installers reset and see if this fixes it.

Just worried if there is some big problem this might break the TV completely.

No, Still the same. Auto-login and cannot turn it off!

Unable to uncheck/check any section boxes in Emby (it worked OK from the Samsung menu itself during setup)

Server was remembered again so suspect the installers/Service menu does nothing different to a regular reset form the TV menus.

I can't seem to duplicate this on my 2018 yet.  It accepts changes to the "Remember me" successfully and the "Seasonal themes", etc settings.  I'm using .62 from USB, haven't tried .62 from the store.  Every model seems to be different though

Thanks for trying.

Looks like I am stuck with it.

Same for other users too but different things stuck.

In Settings>Home I have: Allow Automatic seasonal themes, Enable theme songs and Display missing episodes within seasons.

The wife has the same except she does *not* have Display missing episodes within seasons stuck on.

All would be good, I think, if 'remember me' was not one of the options stuck on.

Wondering if this would be a good enough reason for a warranty replacement?

Only bought it in January.

Well I have done the 'Request Support' option from the menu.

Will give them a couple of days to contact me and if they don't I will call them.

Samsung support blame emby.

As emby is remembering the settings from when it is uninstalled and reinstalled.

All settings are the same. None go back to default. when it is deleted and reinstalled.

Emby should remove all its date when uninstalled.

I have asked the woman to escalate it with a complaint.

We will see!

I have asked the woman to escalate it with a complaint.

Why would you do that instead of just reporting it here? @@SamES any thoughts?

Huh, I have reported it here. This is it :)

I have uninstalled and removed emby before on this same tv and same version of emby.

When I reinstalled it I had to enter server information again.

Plus in the app I had to reset some of the settings as they would revert to defaults.

Now it remembers the settings from before including server information.

No settings are changed at all.

Plus I cannot chnage any check boxes in emby.

It is like it has become read-only for settings.

So surely a tv fault?

OK, I have spoken to the escalated support person.

No change from their end.

So is this something that you guys might be able to resolve?

Do you have a clean-up app that removes all Emby data from the TV?

As Samsung said something is being left it behind, or something has changed in the app from the last time I deleted and reinstalled it, possibly at your end rather than in the app directly.

This is the only way they can explain settings being retained and the inability to change checkboxes in the app.

Even though it was all working a couple of days ago,

Thanks, I hope I can get hold of it and it works for my TV.

To recap these are the problems that I have noticed.

The default settings that get enabled (or the ones I am concerned about at the moment) on the TV after a delete and reinstall are:

In Settings>Display

The following are enabled/selected by default:

1. Allow automatic seasonal themes.

2. Enable Theme songs

Other settings here are not enabled/selected by default.

3. I also, I think, have to enter my server name and port following a delete and reinstall.

Also when when logging in manually the following is checked by default following a delete and reinstall:

4. Manual Logon>Remember me

These 3 check boxes (points 1, 2 and 4 above) on my TV in Settings>Display were not selected a couple of days ago.

Today, with no changes, made by myself or anyone else, all these settings are enabled and cannot be changed.

Not sure if i should be able to but when I try to delete the server, I get the spinning orb for a few seconds and then nothing happens (server is still there).

Deleted and reinstalled on other TV.

Confirmed they are the default settings and I do have to enter the server name/port.

But of course, I can change all these settings on the second TV.

Also confirmed I can delete the server on the second TV.

There was an issue with checkboxes in .61.  It is resolved in .62.  Unfortunately Samsung had an issue at their end so .62 missed the release for your model.

Quickest fix is to use the USB version for now and switch back to the store version after the next release as this will resolve it for you.

It is working now, thanks.

The thing is I thought I was running the USB install already.

Maybe something went wrong with the install and I stayed on the store version (have been running usb version for ages and only tried the store one to see if there was an update for my TV, after reading the announcement it was released)..

Anyhow just glad it is working  now.

The USB version should always be the latest.  I believe Luke mentioned the USB version is actually .62+ now (with some minor cosmetic changes)

Thanks. Yes, I think I will stick with the USB version from now on. Be good if it showed the version number in apps but maybe that is how it works for USB apps.

Just checked and it does show the version on the dashboard so that is as good if not better/easier.
