flossiejayno 6
Hi, I have a Roku Stick + which plays for a minute or two then stops and displays "Loading" and never starts playing again. I have tried the latest Roku build and beta build. The emby server is behind nginx reverse proxy server and the nignx server automatically forces the connection from the client to HTTPS. The communication between nginx and the emby server is HTTP. I'm able to play normally using a web browser from any computer, emby ios application on my iphone etc. Just seems to be a Roku issue. I have updated the logs with server debug on & roku beta debug on. I look forward to hearing from you guys. Thanks Phil embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-24a87e89-2656-4e0b-89f2-1cb3cc6dae76_1.txt.txt
ebr 14850
Is that really the entire ffmpeg log file?
speechles 1911
When it stops on "Loading" it is actually the Roku firmware waiting for data. This part is out of our control. Is the file damaged in any way at that point? Is there a glitch there that ffmpeg cannot work through? If you are playing this locally on a local Emby server try raising the bitrate to the highest setting. Do not use Auto instead set it to the highest bitrate. This should stop it from transcoding. Once it plays it also might try to play with subtitles on. You can turn these off in the Video Player. Once you do both it should Direct Play the item and not involve ffmpeg. It should then behave like your other apps you mention are and play the full title. The streaming stick+ is also WiFi and that might be getting choked out bandwidth wise or interference. You can get a FREE HDMI EXTENDER at this url: https://my.roku.com/hdmi This may fix your issue. Roku is supply these free to consumers rather than in-box for obvious reasons. They want to stem returns and offering free HDMI extensions to customers with issues might stem a return. This could solve your problem. It isn't immediate in their shipping I believe it takes 2-6 weeks to see the cable. This might be too long for you to wait. flossiejayno 6
Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried another file different TV show which has the same issue. The WIFI router is about 6 inches away from the Roku stick +, at the same time I playing the same file from a surface pro 3 meters away via chrome. No issues with the surface but Roku starts the loading issue. Also if I login to the main emby dashboard I see the Roku session still progressing for a while in the play back. I noticed a thread having the same issue with nginx reverse proxy & Roku below could this be the same issue??? Roku app never finishes Loading or Retrieving when behind reverse proxy Roku app never finishes Loading or Retrieving when behind reverse proxy ffmpeg-transcode-67955b1a-243b-43a0-aecd-a9563c28e2ea_1.txt embyserver.txt
flossiejayno 6
Forgot to mentioned I'm playing this remotely, i.e. the emby server is in New Zealand & I'm in the UK presently. I have been able to play TV shows on my iphone from the UK & Ireland via WIFI connections which can be quite a few meters (10+ through walls) away. Yes sometimes the loading is a bit slow but not like this with the Roku which sits 6 inches away from the router. Thanks Phil

ebr 14850
Hi. Your server is not transcoding fast enough for smooth playback. Can you try disabling the throttling feature? If that doesn't help, try lowering the in-app quality setting. Thanks.
