Macburp 109
First, thanks for the app. When I got the NowTV box I was concerned that video over wifi would not be very good. I'm afraid that has proved to be the case. HD shows (MP4 files that have been converted from MKV to ensure compatibility with my Xbox extender) look no better than SD on my 32" Mirai LCD TV, while SD shows (AVI format) are blocky and drop frames. The MB server CPU is not high spec - Intel Pentium @2.6Ghz, scores 1908 on cpubenchmarking.net - but should be good enough. The NowTV box is about 10ft from the router with one wall in the way. I do have the encode bit rates turned up high on the NowTV - would this have any impact? Thoughts are welcome on how to improve PQ. Tikuf 663
Some Log files would be helpful here - transcode log (if there is one) and a server log in debug mode.
Macburp 109
Sorry for the delay in replying to this. I tried playing a SD avi and an HD mp4 file for 2-3 minutes each. Only the SD file was transcoded. Logs - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22367822/server-63537286495.txt https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22367822/transcode-8f8e88e5-aa94-4ac6-a310-b231ca825c49.txt I have for some reason set video quality to 20Mb HD. God knows why, will experiment with a lower bit rate.
Macburp 109
So I tried to play the same files as above with reduced bit rate - in this case 1.3Mbit/s. The HD file looked a lot better, but the SD one looked worse. As the missus watches Neighbours in SD I'd really love some help Transcode log for the SD File that looks worse - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22367822/transcode-ed66dd57-269c-4df1-a36e-88ecd76b4731.txt Edited June 2, 2014 by Macburp
