Kodi 18.3 - Emby 4.1.1 unable to connect

All my android based systems (shield tv's mostly) updated automatically to kodi 18.3. Since then, i'm not able to play any media at all. I tried updating to 4.1.1 but that had no positive effect. Removing and installing the addon again throws an error even before the regular "configure emby" stuff loads.

I also tested by installing the latest stable kodi 18.3 x64 for windows, and adding emby for kodi there. The attached logs are from that new install.

Are you connecting to an SSL (https) emby url? Is the SSL certificate valid?

Nope, it's not ssl. I can't even get far enough on a fresh install to run the stuff where i set up the server.

You have a couple of errors, can you first start with updating your emby repository? It is currently outdated.

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/wiki#get-started

Then let's go from there. It shows you are using 3.1.35, but if you want to install the latest, then you need the new repo so the add-on can install the right dependencies, etc. Keep me posted.

Are you using a proxy or blocking connection to github? The error is different, it got a bit further, but still it ends with an error, as if the connection ended.

I use a dnsbl but I whitelisted github for this add-on a while ago. I confirmed the following are not being blocked. Might it be another url not listed here?

  • github.com
  • codeload.github.com
  • www.codeload.github.com
  • raw.githubusercontent.com

You got it right. it is using raw.githubusercontent.com

Edit: Trying something here, give me a few to put a build together for you to test. Thanks.

In the process to download and install 4.1.3b.zip I opened kodi, and i received a patch. I restarted kodi after the patch and got the prompt to set up. I ran the "1st run" stuff and was able to scan my libraries and play a video. This is on my windows box. I'm going to test tonight with 4.1.3a on my android boxes to confirm. (Nvidia shield TVs)

Logs, for posterity: https://paste.kodi.tv/oxiciyeyec

You were on 4.1.3a, does that mean it fixed it? Could you try the following? Reinstall 4.1.3 (official version) then under add-on settings > advanced > reset patch. Does it still work?

This worked. Thank you for taking the time to assist me with this issue, though I'm completely at a loss as to why it's working now. (not complaining :) )

What a weird outcome. Glad it’s working, post back if it doesn’t last. :)

Agreed. This kind of thing doesn't just fix itself. I suspect some network trickery is involved. I'm going to dig a bit and post back for anyone that's interested.
