Photos Shown With Wrong Orientation

Photos Orientation Rotation

Best Answer jbirmingham40 , 21 July 2019 - 01:32 PM

Seems to be mainly fixed in the latest beta.  I test hundreds of pictures only found maybe 10-20 that were still off.  I will do a bit more investigation into those pictures but guessing they are missing the orientation data.  Thanks for addressing this.

I read through the forums and it sounds like Emby should know how to rotate photos and show them in the correct orientation.  I am still however finding many of my photos are showing with the wrong orientation.  I checked the exif data for several of these photos and they all have correct exif: Orientation values.  Not clear why Emby is not therefore rotating them into the correct orientation.

I am running 4.2.0.20 beta on CentOS Linux.  I tested this in Chrome, Android, and on my iPad using the iOS app.  All show the same behavior.

Attached is the image, the exif data showing the orientation is 6 (meaning image requires a 90 degree clockwise rotation), and a screen capture showing it displayed with the wrong orientation.  Please let me know if you need anything else.

Yes I reported this last week, see post here:

https://emby.media/c...tation-problem/

Luke, move or delete my post as needed.

No need to have duplicate threads.

Edit: On re-reading, this may be slightly different as I'm only experiencing this in my Phone Uploads

Logs attached.  The first four images I clicked on were in the wrong orientation.  The last two were in the right orientation but were also captured in the right orientation (i.e. Emby was not expected to rotate them).  All are JPG images.

This is what I did to fix this problem:

I fixed the upside down images by deleting all in the resized-images folder and leaving the server overnight to refresh these.

See this forum topic:

I know my problem was slightly different, but I thought this might help you.
