Hi,

I am getting audio transcoding on DD5.1 audio on my philips androidtv 7601.

In the back of my head something tells me that android tvs has/had problems with passing through dd5.1 audio, but I haven't found anything searching the forums.

If not, is the audio profile correct? I'd be happy to test 5.1 support for this profile if possible.

I posted a log 9.14 CET.

Hi.  If I found the right log (you didn't tell me which user) then the item is transcoding due to subtitles not the audio.

Both the server dashboard and stats for nerds in the app will tell you exactly what is being converted and why.  Did you look at that?

Yes, I always use the stats for nerds window, and it says unsupported audio, and also burning in subtitles..se screenshot.

But the thing is I only get transcoding when audio out is set to auto in the emby app.

If i select downmix to stereo , there is no transcoding and everything works well, except that the audio is stereo.

So it seems like if the audio gets transcoded, emby also starts burning in the subtitles.

I have 'allow subtitle extraction on the fly' enabled.

That's not DD 5.1.  That is a TrueHD 7.1 track.  Does your outboard system support TrueHD?

If not, then, yes, it will need to be converted and, once we need to convert the audio, if you don't have text-based subs then we have no choice but to burn those in as well.

Sorry, the video has dual audio tracks, forgot to change in the screenshot. I get the same result with the DD5.1 track.

My receiver supports both formats so I think there should be no transcoding for auto or downmix to stereo.

Well, we need to look at the complete information for the actual issue to be sure.

If what you say is true, then I'd say the system doesn't recognize support for those audio formats.  This could be due to how the system is hooked up or device-level settings.

Ah, wait - this is Android on the actual TV, huh?

Well, that is not going to support TrueHD for sure and we'll need to look at specifics to see if it will support sending out DD but check the audio settings in the TV itself.

I just purchased a Philips 43" Android Smart TV yesterday, what an awesome TV.  Anyway, I tested a UHD (4k) video, with DD and it Direct Played.  It automatically picked out the DD audio...

Edit: No external speakers attached.  Using TV speakers only.
