Restore Emby Server

Hello everyone, I am having some issues right now. I was running my server on a Windows machine, I did the backup of the files to transfer my server to a new NAS that I just built. In the instructions it says that you have to paste the old files into the new folders in the same directory. My problem is that I can't seem to find where the directory is located when using FreeNAS. Anyone know how I can find the path so I can restore my settings? Thank you.

Hi, so the backups are on a different machine on your network, is that correct?

Yes sir, the backups are in my main machine that I was running the server before I could built a NAS machine.

So what you want to do is mount the network share to a local path in FreeBSD/FreeNAS. Then you can use that local path directly in Emby with the backup plugin. Here are some instructions on how to do that:

So, I am not an expert in networking, i am sure someone else can chime in. I tried moving system files around different file systems and mounting systems and had only problems as soon as windows starts changing permissions. I am sure there is a way, maybe zipping/taring first?

I had to rebuild the server from scratch, it wasn't too much of a trouble. Just sad I lost all my "viewed" marks. But not too big of a problem. Hopefully the new server will stay there for a long time. Thank you for your help.

Luke pretty much nailed the instructions.

If you've still got access to your old server on your windows machine you should be able to see the folder where the backup plugin stores it's files. You just need to copy those into your jail and point the backup plugin in FreeNAS to the location you saved the files to. The default location in FreeNAS is /var/db/emby-server/backup

You can still do this after the new server is running and just import the watched status. OR you can set yourself up with a free Trakt account and install the Trakt plugin on both and use Trakt to sync the watched status between the 2 machines.
