Kodi saves TBN files, some of the movies on the system are old prior to having emby.

Ok well i can see one possible issue that can be improved here.  The tbn are just jpg renamed to tbn. The server is currently treating them like a foreign image format and not realizing they're just jpg. The result is that they're always converted, sometimes when not necessary. So that will help there.

What do think has changed with these late betas and how it worked before.

I tried embycom and it is fine for rips (TS or mp4 files) but does not work for DVD full copies.

They stop playing after a few seconds

Still goes to 100% CPU util and stay there.

I synced music videos on one system then a partial of about 60 videos (automatic) on a second pc.

it was at 70 then went to 100 and stayed there even after it was done syncing.

Try deleting your activity.db database file. There are some long response times coming from that and it could be causing high cpu usage.

I deleted the activies.db and restarted embyserver.

It did not help. It went to about 40 on the first, then about 70 on the second, than 100% on the third connection from kodi.

It stayed there even after the kodi had completed.

Try beta server 4.2.0.24, along with the updated kodi sync plugin, along with the updated Emby for Kodi add-on, which is not yet released by @Angelblue05.

Once you have all of those updates, there will be a dramatic reduction in communications between the add-on and the server, and also the sync plugin will be doing considerably less work now.

@jpimlott

Can you try doing a repair on that library to see if it helps you move past this?

The next build I've just posted 4.1.2 will not include the fix to know if the episodes are stacked yet, but it will include the start up sync improvements.

Keep me posted, thanks. I will let you know when the improvements to address your situation is added, but a repair or library update should resolve your situation right now.

I update both emby server .24 and kodi companion to the latest.

Restarted emby,

cleared the local database of kodi on one pc.

I then did a full database sync. The movies and Tv went fine with very low cpu and very fast.

When it got to music videos it got about 39 of them in then stopped. A restart of emby did not help.

the CPU was back at 100%.

It's normal that the sync process will have some cpu usage. Did you wait for it to finish? I imagine it would go down then, right?

No it did not go down. It stayed at 100%. CPU was low with good disk and network activity until it got the music videos part.

It went part way in then went to 100 and stayed, After a few minutes there it errored out saying to do a restart of kodi and try again,

I tried that and it errored again.

I attached a log file and a screen shot of the kodi error.

This was after restarted the emby service and trying it again

What is going on here? Have you created an emby library that points to the emby server cache folder?

You're just asking for problems by doing that.

@Happy2Play looks like another safeguard needs to be added to not allow users to even create this situation.

Looks like it, I can see that being total chaos.  Surprised we didn't see this sooner as it is in the very first log also.
