I just upgraded to .18 and now only playing on theh server works.

If I use a web browser or ios then i can not connect to the server.

It is a windows 10 machine.

The connections are not showing up on the dashboard.

I have restarted the server. I verified my network is working as other servers are fine.

This was working fine on .17 remotely earlier today.

I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter:

https://github.com/M...ki/Connectivity

Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed, and which ones do not. thanks.

A windows update turned on the built in firewall at the same time .18 was installed. This confused me.

Bad timing I guess

I love when Micro$oft makes changes to settings as part of an update.

I just started emby server. It did a library update and people update. The cpu stayed low.

i launched IOS app and played a video,

  CPU stayed low.

Launched  KODI and synced up with the plugin.

CPU now running at 100%

Closing Kodi does not change CPU utilization.

To reduce cpu usage, try removing these plugins:

2019-06-21 21:46:26.507 Info App: Loading Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue, Version=2.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null from C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\plugins\Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue.dll

Then restart the server.

I removed all 3 of the recommanded apps .

Tested and was fine after computer restart.

Install play statistics and was fine after a restart.

I install kodi companion and the CPU went to 100% within a few minutes.

@jpimlott, can you please remove these plugins, then restart the server and see how that compares:

2019-06-22 09:44:28.054 Info App: Loading Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue, Version=2.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null from C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\plugins\Emby.Kodi.SyncQueue.dll
2019-06-22 09:44:28.054 Info App: Loading MediaBrowser.Plugins.SmtpNotifications, Version=3.1.4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null from C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\plugins\MediaBrowser.Plugins.SmtpNotifications.dll

Thanks.

I removed those 3 apps from the server and retested. CPU is staying the normal range.

I did a manual sync with kodi and it went fine.  This not use the companion but has to do full sync of all media (30 terabytes). Appears to be a problem with kodi companion and emby.

The kodi plugin along with the Emby for Kodi add-on will do a full sync of your entire database. This can be a heavy operation and will require some resource utilization which you need to be prepared for.

If this is a problem, please consider trying the EmbyCon add-on instead. With this add-on there is no syncing required, you just sign in, browse and play. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

The kodi plugin has worked great for me for the past 2 years. sync takes some time but not 100% cpu all night.

It has only been a problem since upgrading to one of the recent betas.

The kodi companion caches the last changes to the emby database and syncs those down to the client.

it is normally between 50 and few hundred depending on activity.

It was working great only using 10 or15% CPU.

Now it goes to 100% with in a few minutes after one sync and stays there continuously . I tested streaming to IOS and edge and they work great.

This was working great on .13 or earlier.

At what time in the log was cpu usage high? Everything looks normal here.

Kodi is downloading a number of images from the server. Having to process them will result in some cpu usage.

Some usage is understandable, but continious 100% usage after a kodi sync is not normal. I have been using it for serveral years now.

Something has changed in the recent beta that has affected the kodi companion app.
