scb99 186
Hi I just want to mention this. About 1 time in 2 or 3, when I upgrade to a new version of Emby Server on my WD device, it appears to work on the control panel (i.e. shows on the wd control panel the new version number) but if I go into the Emby control panel and click on the gear wheel, it still shows the old version. Also, if I ssh into the device and look there directly, it's clear that it's still the old version and the update hasn't worked. So what I have to do is to remove Emby from the apps on the WD dashboard, reboot the device, then install it again. Removing Emby doesn't remove the database etc, so everything comes back just like it was before. This doesn't happen with the Plex app which I also have installed, it's unique to Emby, And I think it's always been like this since the beginning. I don't really have time to help debug this or whatever, sorry, but I just wanted to mention it so you are aware. Cheers and thanks for the good work, Steve
scb99 186
PS a bit more info - I have two of these devices, PR4100, and this happens on both of them. So it's more than just a one-off quirk of one device. - It just happened with 4.2.0.17 the latest beta - It happens randomly, i.e. with 4.2.0.whatever, the last time I did an update, it happened on one device but the other upgraded cleanly - It doesn't help to stop the app from the control panel first and then upgrade Edited June 18, 2019 by scb99
Luke 36877
Hi, did you make sure to shutdown the server before updating?
scb99 186
As I wrote above, I did shut down the server from the WD control panel first. I can't remember if I also tried shutting down the server from inside the Emby app, I don't know if that would make a difference. Luke 36877
But once it finally installs it's fine after that, right?

scb99 186
Just put in 4.2.0.25 on both NAS boxed and both worked fine. That’s not definitive but a good start. I’m not so often next to these boxes to update them - I’ll keep you updated. Here till Tuesday so if there’s a .26 by then I’ll try that too. Thank you. scb99 186
Hi I put 4.2.0.32 on 3 WD PR4100 tonight On one of these I stopped Emby from the WD control panel and then did the install. This manifested the problem and I had to remove, reboot and re-install. On the other 2 I stopped Emby from the Emby dashboard, then did the install. Both these upgraded fine. Hope this helps, Steve

Hi there @turnkit, can you please describe the exact issue that you're having? Thanks !
turnkit 0
I attempted to update but when I did the version number stay the same. I was able to finally update by shutting down Emby from within the UI after rebooting then reinstalled the app over the old one. I only felt safe to do this after I saw another person on the forums claim it wouldn't erase anything. Sorry I can't troubleshoot the "broken updating" issue any more than that as I've already updated (using the longer, slower process described above.)
