EPG Refresh Timeout?

I have a situation where I am deploying the Vu+ Live TV Service that is using an Enigma2 PVR as the backend for Live TV. Mostly it works well, but the Enigma2 device is on the end of a Wireless N link which now and then appears to be dropping the connection with the PC that houses the Emby Server. This is not a problem while I do not have any Emby Theater applications connected to the server, but when I do, what appears to be connection problems with the Wireless N link results in locking up Emby Theater with the spinning circle. Stopping and restarting Emby Theater does not clear the lock.

I can clear this lockup by disabling then re-enabling the Wireless NIC in the PC. I can also reduce the likelihood of the lockup happening by reducing the frequency of Refresh Guide in Scheduled Tasks in Emby Server. I haven't tried it but I suspect that the lockup can also be cleared by restarting Emby Server.

Is there any way to program in some timeout on the Refresh Guide Scheduled Task, to sidestep any situation where the source of the Guide cannot be reached?

Hi, yes this is something we need to improve. Currently during the guide refresh process, if the epg cannot be reached then it will end up getting wiped out. It is on our backlog for review. Thanks.

Does the relationship of parental control tags applied to channels get removed when the guide refresh fails?  I added a tag to channels to filter them from being used in the guide and now the channels are displaying again and no longer have the tag applied.  The tag itself does still exist under parental control.  This was after a guide refresh failure.

No, but you shouldn't lose custom tags on guide refreshes, and in my testing I'm not losing them either.

What lead up to this was Emby Server being in a state it wouldn't play LiveTV or recordings. I tried to Restart Emby Server from the system tray but it never started back up.  I then rebooted the PC and tried a guide refresh which took a very long 7 minutes filling up the log file with 2GB worth of what looks like thousands of lines of "Info App: Deleting path c:\...\emby-server\programdata\metadata\livetv\<id>" entries.  Note I'm using 1 Emby OTA guide of 40 channels.  After that first long refresh attempt, playing LiveTV still didn't work.  I tried another guide refresh which finished in under a minute and finally LiveTV worked.  After that, I noticed all channels had lost the association to the parental control tag that I previously assigned.

If channels were wiped from the database then yes that could have been why.
