Guest JaysEmby
wondering if we are any closer as to why if i have say over 3000 films the navigation on the tv comes to a crawl... and is super slow to navigate movies folder or if i come out the movies folder back to the main screen the app freezes / hangs for a few seconds hasn't been fixed in the new update so it is still a issue which be interesting to know what limits there are or why it does this on my samsung 2017 mu model if i only have say 800 movies then navigation seems fine and quick enough to scroll through the films, but soon as i add my large library in it just goes slow as hell running the same big library in plex gives 0 issues and scrolling is super quick regardless if 800 films or 4000 films Edited June 4, 2019 by JaysEmby

Guest JaysEmby
That's great Luke but is this something that gonna take ages just like the update for the 2017 models which took forever? Be intrigued know what is causing this issue with large libraries Be great if was way could have beta section for versions which a handful of us could sideload and test on our sammy TVs to help squash bugs quicker.. FrostByte 5041
I think I see the same thing on my 2018 Q8FN, but with music. I have 70K songs and 5K albums. The letter picker for albums is unresponsive and the only way to scroll though albums is one line at a time which is a long process because it has to redraw every line. I normally just use playlists on my Samsung though and any album scrolling I do is in the web client which is a lot faster With movies I'm okay which is only at just over 1K now and the Samsung app seems fine with that number. Guest JaysEmby
Yea its a strange one @@FrostByte at first i thought it might be cause of the TV hardware, but then the same doesn't happen on plex and that works perfectly fine with my large movie collection So hopefully it something simple as its a weird one that's for sure... for now i have split my library up into a few folders to get around the amazing lag / freezes I'm going to make a folder and add movies into it in chunks and see at what point the lag / freezes happen as then it might help the developers
Tolerant 70
Is there any update on this issue? Attempting to view All Movies on my Samsung Smart Tv is horrible. It takes minutes and minutes for things to come up an forget trying to navigate few a few thousand titles. The only way to really use the Tv is to put things on Favorites and then only goto the Favorites listing in Emby. This of course requires using the PC first to find/add what you want to Favs. Are there any tips, tricks, updates or tweaks that would improve this? And the Tv is hard wired to the local network, not Wifi.

Tolerant 70
I am just confused. how much data is being passed to the Samsung.. should it not be some VERY tiny low res pics.. titles. if u want more info.. let it be based on what is ON screen.. vs waiting 8 minutes just to load it.. so you can then try to page down and wait 3 more mins.. Would a show what is actually requested work better then flooding 6k movies info to the tv at once? .. but.. no idea if that is whats going on, just that 5-10-15 mins.. waiting on a single screen to render.. is a lot to ask. I hope this can be resolved, Emby does advertise it works with just about everything, very big selling point.
rbjtech 4219
Using the latest app on a UE32K5500/2016 (so very entry level Tizen TV) with approx 1300 Films/350 TV Series/20K Episodes my experience is it slightly 'lags' - maybe half a second or so, but is OK to use. Alphabet picker is pretty instant. I wonder what the threshold is to start making it this bad - I can't believe for a second it is trying to load the images for the entire catalogue, so technically it should not make any difference - perhaps it's the database lookup that is slow ? Tolerant 70
He already said he knows what the issue is.. he did not say there was a fix for it. So this could take awhile. In the meantime, I keep telling my woman to just add things to favs.. at least.. she can do that. We are all understanding, that just because Emby works with everything, the experience is not the same on every platform but we have big hopes that someday, it will be. Thank you Luke, keep on working the solution, not the problem.

Luke 36999
Woohoo must install the new v1.0.67 tomorrow Do we know if this fixes or helps the large slow library navigation issue? It probably will not have any impact on it.
Luke 36999
This is resolved in the next update to the app. Thanks.
