swedishbeast 0
I have an ancient 12 year old dell dimension e520 machine from 2007 hooked up to my fiber connection with an ethernet cable. I recently installed freebsd on it to turn it into a media server and after many hours of configuring files and installing software I managed to get it installed. To be fair I am a noob when it comes to bsd systems but I have used linux before so I just use duckduckgo to find out where to go next. There are a few issues that I would like to get fixed and the first issue is that I get a connection refused error when trying to test it. http://localhost:8096/web/wizardstart.html I am not sure what I am doing wrong here but I do know the only thing I have installed is the server itself and the emby android app. The second issue is that when I type in my server ip adress in the emby android app or on the emby website it says the adress is incorrect or something like that. sluggo45 47
There's a lot to unpack in your post: ancient 12 year old dell dimension e520 machine from 2007 Those used Core duo's, if I remember correctly. This PC is going to struggle mightily with transcoding modern AVC and HEVC files and probably have other problems as well. Could it be made to work, sort of? Probably. Worth the effort? Doubt it. I recently installed freebsd......I am a noob when it comes to bsd systems but I have used linux before Why did you pick FreeBSD? There's nothing wrong with using Linux for Emby server, or Windows for that matter (Emby is built on the .Net platform). There are a few issues that I would like to get fixed and the first issue is that I get a connection refused error when trying to test it. That's kind of a big issue Impossible to say from your description what went wrong but clearly it didn't install correctly. Overall I'm not sure you're going to be happy with your setup and approach if your goal is to create a stable media server for Emby.
