Finally upgrading to 4K/HDR TV

Hey guys.

On Wednesday I am receiving our first 4K television and I have a question that I can't seem to find on Google and I hope someone has experience with or just knows this information.

My current setup is I run my Shield and my Xbox One S via my receiver to my TV. I want to keep it that way with the new TV as well. My receiver is an Onkyo  TX-SR353. Per the specs it will handle and passthrough 4K and is HDCP 2.2/HDR.

The TV I am getting will upscale 1080p content to 4K but per the specs on my receiver, IT will not. So my question is mainly, since the receiver is just passing 4K/HDR through to the TV, will it still upscale 1080p content?

I am assuming the receiver is just a relay point and not actually doing anything with the video content as it moves through it right? @ @@daedalus

EDIT: Damn - I meant to post this in hardware. Mod: move it if you can.

If your TV will upscale it, then you're fine. It's better to let the TV handle it instead of the receiver, anyway.
