Yup

lol.

Now, the real questions is going to be:

When does MS release the patch for the Xbox One to use the new Win8.1 unified apps API changes? And of course when will they take submissions for apps.

Hello,

I've read some threads in various forums that an xBox One client might become a reality down the road.  Is this true and if so, is it currently in progress?

Yup

I tried the Xbox One a bunch tonight using Play To and the web client with a mix of BD MKVs of various codecs. Everything played fine, but only with the default Xbox One profile and with transcoding. I tried to branch a custom Xbox One profile with MKV set to Direct Play for all codecs. With the custom profile, I get only a black screen on the Xbox One. Has anyone else gotten more direct play codecs to work on the Xbox One?

That other Youtube video I linked wasn't completely clear, but it made it sound like he made a more open Xbox One profile and was getting untouched audio/video through.

If a native Xbox One app is being made, I hope you can achieve native playback support for the following:

- AVC, VC-1, MPEG2, and so on video codecs

- AC3, DTS, TrueHD, DTS-MA up to 7.1 channels

- PGS subtitles

- 24 Hz output

- Avoid Cinavia

There is a Plex author working on a Plex app for Xbox One that had commented about being able to do some of these things in that app, but he was fully clear on he could/could not do.

Everytime I try to log into the web app using IE i get a "Application Not Supported" error, do I have to change a setting or something?

Good news everyone!

It seems the x1 will get a new media player app which will at a later date also support DLNA (including browsing).

This is good for various reasons:

  1. no more relying on that crappy "Xbox Video" App for "play to" streaming
  2. support for a ton of new file formats
  3. no more relying on the web interface or a tablet/phone to initiate the stream

It's not as good as a native app that gets all the metadata from MediaBrowser but a good step forward.

Here's a list of all media supported with the new app (release date not yet known, source here: http://majornelson.com/2014/08/12/kicking-gamescom-2014-social-features-new-ways-watch-tv-usb-dlna-support-coming-soon/):

Plex just release an Xbox One and PlayStation app and it works great based on the reviews I have read.

Hope this means that we are close to an Emby app for Xbox One.
