Hello Com,

As @@Angelblue05 recommended me, i should post my problem here, maybe there is a reason for it or its an bug.

At the moment, everyday i have to restart the emby server, that i can connect trough kodi with the emby for kodi addon, the reason is, he lost the lan ip. So Angelblue05 told me i should enter the server ip adress under advanced, that is what i do. But i cant reach the server, when he lost the lan ip, after restart it works and he shows me the lan ip on the Web UI.

Here is the log from yesterday. Log.txt

And here is the screen, what i mean

And here is the LINK where i start my problem post first.

I too have an issue with Emby losing its LAN IP, which causes Emby for Kodi to lose track of Emby.

Restarting Emby server temporarily fixes the issue, but I would obviously prefer a permanent fix.

Need anything, just holler

And even without filling that network ip, it still happens correct?

Yes with or without filling in the ip, it will not fix it.

This is issue is new. This must came in the last weeks.

Hey guys, ran into a new problem recently that flared up again tonight.  A couple other times in the past week or so (maybe a bit longer, don't remember when the first time was), attempting to login to my Emby server on different Roku systems on the local network stops working.

To start, I'm running server version 4.1.1.0.

When functioning normally, starting the Emby app on Roku finds my server on the local network and takes me to the "Select Server" screen that lists my server name and the local network address on the left side and my user account listing on the right.  I select the account I want and it gets me in (since I don't require a PIN while on local network).

However, when the issue has flared up, it no longer finds my server on the local network automatically, and instead goes to the Sign in with Emby Connect screen.  From there, I can go to the side and get to the Server info screen, which still does display my server name, but attempting to select that server now doesn't take me to the user account listing, but instead to the manual login option.  I've tried manually putting in a user account and password, at which point the app closes and I'm back at the Roku home screen.

If I, instead, try to hit the "New Server" option and manually enter the local network IP address and port for my server, it will find it and connect to it, give me my user account list, and get me in when selecting an account.  However, as soon as I exit the app back to the Roku home screen and attempt to reload Emby, it takes me back to the Emby Connect page and can't find the server automatically again.

I've tested all of that on three different Roku streaming devices from three different areas of the house, all on the local network, with the same results.  Connecting to the server through a web browser on a laptop at that time worked exactly as it always does after manually entering the local IP address in the address bar.

At that point, I looked at the Dashboard on my server and I noticed that the normal area that displays the In-Home (LAN) access and Remote (WAN) access IP addresses is displaying ONLY the Remote (WAN) access information and no In-Home (LAN) access info.

I restarted the server and, immediately after restarting, the In-Home (LAN) access info shows up again, and all my streaming boxes automatically start finding the server again as they should.

I know this is a lot of information, but wanted to provide as much as I could right away.  I did manage to grab a portion of the log for the time during one of my attempts I described above, including manually entering the local address on the streaming device, etc.  Sending that log file to @@ebr and @@Luke now.

You're right, Angelblue05, that looks like the same issue in the other thread.  I swear I did try and look through to see about an existing one before I created mine, but clearly I missed it.  My apologies to all for duplicating topics on here.

I just wanted to make sure the thread was seen by Luke. :)

I respectfully bump this thread for @@Kodi_Newcomer, who's been beyond diligent.

He also repeated it was a daily issue for him.

My experiences of Emby losing internal IP address seem to happen in streaks.

For instance, issue occurs on 3 consecutive days  but then goes away 4 days.

So about a week ago, Emby started acting up. When ever i would try to connect via home network on any device, said device could not find Emby. After i restarted the server, then every thing was fine. until the next time i wanted to connect again. I then realized this happens every time the PC comes out of sleep mode or sets idle for a period of time. I also noticed when this is happening, on the dashboard where it show you LAN and WAN I.P. address that the LAN I.P. is no longer there. If i restart the server, the it reappears .... for a while. I noticed Emby was out of date so i installed the latest version, and that fixed nothing. I also have Emby running as a windows service if that makes a difference to any one. Is there a setting or something that may have accidentally got changed? what am i missing here?

Does the computer have a fixed IP address, or does it use DHCP to get one from the router?  It could be that the DHCP doesn't re-negotiate after sleeping as fast as Emby wakes up to check the address, or something like that.  (Just a thought...)

Assigning a fixed IP address to your PC where Emby is installed can do wonders.

no its not fixed ip, and i think i can safely say its not a problem with re negotiating. ive been using the same pc for 3 years now, and haven't had a problem until a week a go. and its not that the IP changes either. when i look as the dashboard, the LAN IP is just completely gone ... mention of it there. only sows WAN IP. after i restart the serever it comes back. as i said, i haven't had  an issue for 3 years, and out of the blue it starts happening. ive changed nothing (at least not intentionally) which is why i asked if there was something i may have accidentally changed

I am running 4.1.1.0 (not beta)

My pc is programmed to sleep at 8:45pm and wake at 4:30am.

I noticed @robert powell mentionned also set his to sleep, I'm wondering if its the case also with @Kodi_Newcomer (?).

Server IP is automatic (dynamic) for me.

I'm having no problems with loosing server connectivity.  My server is running Version 4.1.1.0 and does not sleep.

My server is the most time of the day sleeping, he wakes up for watching content or when a recording timer is running, after both actions the Server goes to sleep.

This setup runs many years ago, with no problem like this.

All my devices have static ip's, the router in my case fritz box is given that. So the server has always the same number.

In my case i have entered the ip in the emby settings under advanced with no reaction.

@@Luke,

the 3 users reporting the same issue (loosing internal IP) all have their respective server in sleep mode at some point, we might be on to something...

If any of you are willing to try the beta server, that would be helpful as there have been changes there. Thanks.

I have installed it now, and will see what happens the next days. I will give feedback in some days.

Is there any documentation about how to switch from stable to beta, I can follow instructions as well as the next guy, but I'm not very found of trying to figure it out by myself.
