ErikaJ 56
Good day...I know I have seen the answer to my Q somewhere because I have used the process in question. Which is, is there a way to hide a movie from the movies library once it has been added to a collection? If so would it be wise to do this via the server or web gui? Thanks in advance...cheers. You can use tags, which is per user basis. Assign any Tag to a movie you don't want to be shown, block those tags in any User setting you prefer and they wouldn't see it. ErikaJ 56
Thanks for the reply GR but I know there was a way to hide a movie from the movie library or favorites once you set them up into one of those categories. This made streamlining your library much cleaner. I have used tags in the past with no luck but that was years ago. Cheers...

Cheers...Ah, I misunderstood your question I thought you wanted to hide a movie alltogether, my bad. Edit: As far as your original question, that should be done automatically if you have Group items into Collections setting enabled. ErikaJ 56
Cool that's the setting I am looking for. I just can't find it again and my notes when I did this before are lost. Can you tell me where that setting is? Also, is it via the server app or browser gui? Thanks and cheers!! I found it thanks. Dam I know I looked there like a gazillion time but obviously it was late yesterday. Many thanks for the title to search for GR76. Cheers... ErikaJ 56
Well now I am confused. Going to Movies Library>Filter>I toggled the setting "Group Items Into Collections". However, the collection "300" which contains 2 of the "300" movies is still showing in the Movies library as "300 Collection". It is also showing in the collections category which is where I want it to be. But I am wondering why the "300 collection" is in the main library section. Is there a way to hide it from showing up in the general movies library? Thanks...

Maybe someone has some other trick up the sleeve? Cheers
Luke 37009
If you selected the option to group items into collections then this is expected behavior. Did you do that?
Happy2Play 8242
There is no way to remove collapsed "Collections" from the Movie library. The Collections library and tab are just filtered views.
ErikaJ 56
Yes, Luke I did. What I was trying to achieve is a consolidation based on what collections I have. I figured whenever you made a collection with say 4 movies, those 4 movies would be removed/hidden from the "main" library of movies. But apparently this is not the same as another proggy like Plex or maybe I am not setting this correctly. Please advise...thanks and cheers
ErikaJ 56
@GR yup I understand that an item(s) which make a collection would remain in the main movie library but why would a "collection" item be created in the main movie library? So basically I am looking at 2 "collections" of the same items. One collection is in the movie collections area listed as "300 Collection" and another resides in the main movie library also listed as "300 Collection". Main library will present all your media, grouping into collections just provides a smaller list.
ErikaJ 56
Yes, Happy...I understand that I believe. So to clarify lets say I have 10 movies/items in the main movies library. So I put 4 of them in a group/collection. That group/collection would/should appear in the collections part from my understanding, and that is what is happening which is perfect. In addition to that the individual items within said group/collection also appear in the main movies library view which is also good and perfect. The problem/issue I am dealing with is that another group/collection with the same name as that which I created is also in the main movies library view. Here is a pic of MB1 which is a view of the collections view... Hers is a pic of MB2 which is a view from main movies library...
Deathsquirrel 741
This is normal. The collection is intended to show in the movies display. You can also choose to show the movies that are part of the collections in the movies list too though I've never understood the appeal. Collections don't only show in the Collections view. That's just a shortcut to collections for faster browsing.
ErikaJ 56
Okay well that makes sense. I just thought Emby had the same feature as Plex wherein Plex when you create a collection it doesn't duplicate the collection in the main movies section and the individual items are hidden from their original location. Thanks though.

Just like if you had a Mixed Content Library those additional tabs/views do not exist.

ErikaJ 56
Hey Luke thanks for reminding me of that checkbox which I forgot I checked (see post 4 and 5). Now unchecking that box gives me the result I was looking for (see pic MB3), which is, main library has all individual items only and collections are where one would expect them to be, in collections and nowhere else. BTW one of the best features Emby has IMO is that from the folders tab we can setup a collection or playlist with 1 click. Fantastic. I'm pretty sure NPVR and Plex didn't have that feature and as for Kodi well I haven't used that in so long I forgot what it does do. Thanks for all the work you and your Team put into this. Much appreciated. Cheers! BTW2 is there a way to display an item count for each of the library views?

ErikaJ 56
Thanks GR76 that will be awesome. I moved from Kodi to NPVR to Plex. Now re-discovered Emby from last year and enjoying all the changes that have happened in that time. Hopefully, this will be my media entertainment of choice so I can stop experimenting. Cheers... ErikaJ 56
Good day...I have quite a few movie collections that I have either setup as a collection or as a group within a collection because there are multiple versions of the same movie. This is all working well and I was looking for a setting that would identify how many versions of the movie are held within a group. The drop down box works fine for selecting which movie to watch but is there a setting that would let the user know that there are 2 or 3 or how ever many movies there are? Thanks.
