When I cast from other apps my tv volume is usually around 30 and it's quite loud. When casting from emby it's unintelligible at anything under 60-90. Is there a setting on server side somewhere I can force casting sound to be louder? I played around with transcoding volume boosting but nothing helped.

Hi, is it even transcoding and downmixing the audio at the same time? That's when that setting comes into play.

No, I'm local in this case. Would logs help? I'm on the most recent version of iOS and emby server. Could send video showing youtube cast volume vs emby too if you wanted.

Also, what is your Chromecast connected to?

It's connected to a new P series vizio. Not sure what version of chromecast they use. I got tired of it and got a fireTV. I still have problems with the other one in my bedroom (same P series) but it's not enough for me to care that much. If I do I'll buy a firetv.

Basically cast volume needs to be 60+ to hear. Swiping out of the app quickly on an iphone xs max (assumed same for x and xs) will turn volume on tv to 100 which can be loud sometimes lol. Occasionally I'll hit the perfect random number and something like 16 will be loud but usually it's 60+.

Every once in a while the volume will be great for about 3-5 seconds then go super quiet and need me to turn it up to the standard 60+. Keep in mind 19-25 is normal for casting from other apps.

Thanks for the info. As a test, can you try this with a music file? How does that compare?

Here is video from my android tablet casting which works great, and then my iPhone casting. It should be obvious the volume difference.

The loud one is from the tablet casting after the phone was just casting at that same volume level.

Music behaves the same.

Sometimes when I start media from my iPhone it is a proper volume but if I adjust it at all from the phone or tv volume it goes back to about half or less than what it should.

Ah that's good information, so you're saying this is only after adjusting the volume using the phone?
