Roku Playback Issues - Playing from Resume

I am having some issues playing from resume on my Roku. I am able to start the moving over from the beginning, but once I play from resume it shows the loading screen and never completes loading. The server shows the device as "playing" but nothing is happening on the screen. I tested the same user login on the Nvidia Shield and I am able to resume the same movie I was not able to do with the Roku.

Anyone have this issue or have any ideas?

What are you trying to resume? Can you show us the ffmpeg logs if there is any? What are the media details for the file you are attempting to resume can you show us?

Can you give us all the steps to reproduce your problem and a copy of that file so we can reproduce on our side? If so use drop box, google drive, google photos, microsoft one drive, etc.. Then share the link to that file with @@ebr and @speechles or just share as a link in this thread. However you want.

Also.. What model of Roku is this. The model # and what firmware version is it on?

With that information we can better diagnose the problem. Thanks. :)

Attached are the FFMPEG logs from me trying to get it to resume. I was just trying to resume a movie from the previously watching screen.

The model is Roku TV. It is built into the TCL TV and is updated (not sure off the top of my head what version and the kids/wife are watching right now)

It is the PGS subtitles having to be burned in. They must be set as default. It will always transcode them into the video if you have everything default.

What you can do is...

On the server log in as your user and go to your user settings. Then choose the subtitles section. Make sure to turn the subtitle mode to "no subtitles".

It should look like below:

Now you can turn on subtitles when the video is playing. Press down to open the OSD. Look for the caption/dialog icon and click it. Then choose your subtitle this way.

My settings for this user are already set for No subtitles. See screen shot below:

This doesn't happen all the time or on all movies but it does seem to happy consistently on my Harry Potter movies...

Luke, there are ffmpeg logs linked above but no server log.

Speechles the first log I looked at has no subtitles selected.  It appears, however, that ffmpeg is making no progress with the file as it just reports 0fps over and over.

Could you please go to transcoding setting, set hw acceleration to "Advanced" and disable the Nvidia VC1 decoder?

You'll probably also have a DXVA2 or D3D11 decoder for VC1, that's the next best option.

If that would cause problems as well, try to deactivate this as well, then you'll get sw decoding which will most likely work.

If not, then there's a problem with the file.

Does it happen with other VC1 files as well or just with that specific one?
