daroy 0
Hi there, I am new to Emby and was jus testing it out to see if it is the right media sever for me. I have Emby installed on my Synology DS418play and use my phone to cast my media to my Chromecast (1080p 2018 model). I have also got myself a Emby Premier subscription so hardware transcoding should work if it's needed. Now I have this video file with the following media info according to Emby: VideoTitle: 1080i H264 Codec: H264 AVC: Yes Profile: High Level: 40 Resolution: 1920x1080 Aspect ratio: 16:9 Anamorphic: No Interlaced: Yes Framerate: 25 Bitrate: 11,697 kbps Color primaries: bt709 Color space: bt709 Color transfer: bt709 Bit depth: 8 bit Pixel format: yuv420p Ref frames: 1 NAL: 4 Audio Title: Dutch MP2 stereo (Default) Language: Dutch Codec: MP2 Layout: stereo Channels: 2 ch Bitrate: 256 kbps Sample rate: 48,000 Hz Default: Yes Container: mkv Path/volume1/Media/Temp/file.mkv Size: 9916 MB When trying to cast that to my Chromecast with the Emby app on my phone the video won't play as it should. Top of the image is ok but the 2nd half is totally wrong and the audio stutters. See the attachement. The CPU on my DS418play is only hovering around 5% while the memory sits at max 50% of it's 2GB (mainly due to other processes that run on the NAS. Is there something that I can do to make this file play smoothly? Should hardware transcoding help with this? Any ideas are welcome. Luke 36889
@@daroy, apologies for the delay. Here is the problem. We are direct streaming the original interlaced video when it should be transcoded instead due to Chromecast not handling it very well. Unfortunately this is a difficult decision because most of the time the Chromecast will play the deinterlaced video just fine, but this is one example where it does not. If you were to lower the in-app quality setting to force a full transcode, then this will resolve it. Additionally, if you can provide me with a copy of the video, i can test it and see if there's any criteria we can use to automatically switch to transcoding instead. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
