Roku - Select Seasons as watched

Hey guys...  It might already be possible, but i couldn't find a way.  Would like to mark seasons as being watched.  Realize it is possible to already mark the entire show.  But depending on the show it may have many seasons and usually its the last couple that haven't been watched yet.

If i remember when i get back on the server it is easy enough to do there, but the key part of that is IF i remember the next day.

Thanks in advance for considering this!

Does the green check mark "series watched" show anymore? I know it was discontinued for awhile there as it was thought that marking entire series watched was something no users actually did. It was seen as clutter on series posters. I want to follow the consistency. So if we do add the ability to mark watched at series level it has to show watched check marks on series level. Will that be able to happen?

Right now for Series, Season, and Folder it isn't showing watched checks in the Roku app. Within the MainCardItem it specifically denies Series, Season and Folder from having the checks show.

Is this consistent with what should be?

It is pretty easy to get the button added but I want to make positively sure that we are keeping with the same identical behavior.

Pretty sure, but i'll verify, the Android TV app allows watched at the series level.

Confirmed...  I can select watched at the season level with Android TV.

There are many ways for me to do this at series level.  So please do not consider this a huge priority!

Thanks!

It is easy to make the mark watched button for seasons. Very easy (or item.type="Season"). I am curious at the same time as doing this should we maybe re-address the check marks on these items? Folders, Series, Seasons will not have green check marks if the entire thing is watched. In absense of watched circle on these items is implied green check marks. This is the consistency I meant. When to green check mark and when not to? It isn't consistent right now. Items get checks. Item Containers do not. But some Item Containers do such as Albums, Playlist, Etc. And some Item Containers that are video do such as, Collections/BoxSet and again Playlist. If it supposed to be this way and matches other apps then we are okay this is fine. If in any way this differs from other apps we can address it the same time on the Roku when we add the season mark watched button.

We need to look at each area critically when we update to do more for you guys/girls/people. Not just do the one thing you ask. But since we are there (in the area adding what you want) we can just clean up alot of the discrepancies and places where we could've done more in that area too. This is what you will see as we move forward. So my question is can we do better? How? Then do the feature request you want and make that entire area better. That season screen on Roku will change soon too. The other apps present this differently and Roku just needs to have this view created/designed and implemented.

Reference: Fix #377 [itemContentTask] Allow marking seasons as watched.

( Give the canMarkWatched flag the ability to allow seasons to be detected as able to be marked as watched in the Action Manager. )

I am assume the behavior of green checks is normal and if it isn't we can always fix that too in a fast/easy way like this was done.

... and to truly get this done.. right now what I did above won't have an effect you can notice in the app. It will just allow the behavior. We will have to redesign the season screen to the markup row list. Right now it is just custom row list. It needs to be custom markup row list. Then we can look just like the web app does and have the mark watched along with favorite, play all, shuffle all, etc..

You guys are awesome!  The dedication and hard work on as aspects of emby (the server and the clients) is just amazing.

I'm getting to the point that its more and more difficult to remember who's on first.  This will make it much more convenient to take care of show / season "watched status" as i see them.  Instead of trying to remember what needed to be changed when i sat back down at the server hours or a day later.

Thanks!

We already have an open issue for this and there is a bit more work to do in other areas before we bring this in.  We will get to it.

Thanks.

So where does a person go to see the open issue issues?

I am as guilty as others that post here by not adding tags so threads can be easily searched before wasting your guys times on duplicate requests.

I thought i was making a feature request, not a roku help request.

Thanks guys!  (maybe i'll go back to lurking)

As much as we would love to share with you the inner workings of our issue tracker, the truth of the matter, is what is discussed makes that hard to impossible. We discuss alot of inner workings and code examples from the scripts/app and possible design screens/images and basically proprietary inner workings that will influence the future of how Emby on Roku works/looks/acts/etc. For us to offer this to anyone would give away our focus and tell others our plans. As much as we would love everyone to know these things we cannot allow it because the competition continues to keep taking ideas/cues from us. We would rather they wait until we are ready and make a release that they start to copy us. We can control this by limiting who can access our issue tracker. Once they copy us after a release this is normal. We do the same to their good stuff. ^_~  Immitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Believe me.

I do make note of every single time I have personally added to the tracker. This is well over 90% of the issues/features. To find these just search for my name "speechles" and the text "Reference" .. Most of these (including this thread) might just be about something else. I usually try to limit my use of that word to just those issues/features so users can use this as a track back. Try it yourself and see if you can find these. It should be easy as I tried to make it that way. Consistency and always using the word "Reference" helps.

Let me know if you can't find these and I apologize we cannot outright share our issue tracker with you. I share what we can to let you know we are aware and are going to chase these down and implement them. More people than you have asked for access to the tracker and I always have to give this same answer. I always rephrase it to put it in the light of today. Today it is not possible to share it. Sorry. But I do share everything on there I can with you here so you are in the loop. :)

NOTE: Also continue to post. About how you feel. How the weather is. And most importantly(to me :)) about anything related to the Emby Roku app (or again to me about how much MS sucks!). We value your feedback. Never feel we want you to stop posting. Please feel comfortable and continue doing what you were doing. There is no reason to stop. Thanks.

Yah i completely understand not letting that to do or in work list becoming public.  I had the same issues at the TV stations.

My "lurking" comment was more of a stand back and watch progression until the next update.

Thanks Again...
