Fast Forwarding past the buffer or “live” tv

Just installed Emby Theater (windows desktop) and trying to figure out why you are able to fast forward past the end of the buffer (or where the show is actually live). This is a real annoyance as if we pause live tv we usually just hit the ffw button a few times to get caught up (through commercials). If we go past the “live” part it hangs until it catches up to the point you told it to seek to. Why not just not allow you to go past the buffer? Is this in the works to be fixed?

Also on the windows desktop version, I do not see the actual buffer in the bar, is this normal? I see it in the Windows store version (and it does not allow you to go past the buffer) but that version does not work the same with our WMC remote.

I wanted to switch from WMC to this but this will be a deal killer for my wife.

I seem to recall that the rational for switching from Madvr to MPV was that "live TV would just work".  Also, Linux would "just work" since MPV could run under Linux, i.e., an easy port from Windows version of ET.  Seems that live TV and Linux ET still have a long way to go.  Maybe it was a mistake switching from Madvr, which was promised from the start would be integrated for advanced users (videophiles) wanting the best.

mpv isn't the problem. If you use mpv directly, it doesn't happen. The buffer is created by the server, so anything around that, is emby. But yes, this has never worked correctly, in Theater. Theater needs some TLC. It's a bit rough 'n' ready. Not a lot of finesse.

It works well but with just a few annoying issues. Unfortunately, this will not pass the wife approval and frankly I don’t blame her. Can’t wait for this to become a bit more stable, it scares me to death to try to run a Win7 machine just so I can have WMC which does “just work”.

Is there another option besides ET that I could use on win10 that would allow me to use a remote?

There's the store app, but you'll probably have a lot of remuxing/transcoding.

Yeah I tried that and it does show the buffered content in the bar and does not allow you to go past the buffer but, the remote control just does not work well at all.

Thanks for the option but unfortunately that won’t work for me.

Just checking back in to see if there is a plan to correct this or if I should just try to stick to Windows Media Center for TV.....as horrifying as that sounds.

We will be improving live stream seeking in a future update. Thanks.

Agreed this issue is a showstopper for the WAF and is one of our top issues that needs to be fixed in Emby Theater win desktop before we can consider a premier subscription.
